Ten countries recognize Viet Nam’s vaccine passport

Vietnamese vaccine passport has been recognized by the U.S., Japan, the UK, Australia, India, Belarus, Cambodia, the Philippines, Palestine and Maldives, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang told reporters at a press briefing on January 20.

Viet Nam had recognized vaccine passports from 79 countries and territories while negotiations are underway to accept other vaccine passports, especially those in digital format.

According to Ms. Le, thanks to vaccine passport recognition, citizens from these 79 countries who have been vaccinated with two doses will have their quarantine time reduced to three days.

On December 23, 2021, the Vietnamese Ministry of Health issued the Vietnamese vaccine passport template with 11 fields of information including name, date of birth, nationality, targeted disease, doses of vaccines received, date of vaccination, lot number of the vaccine batch, type of vaccine, vaccine product received, and the vaccine manufacture.

Previously, on early January, Viet Nam resumed regular flights to eight countries and territories including the U.S., Cambodia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Australia, and Chinese Taipei after a long hiatus due to COVID-19.

Seven localities namely Khanh Hoa, Kien Giang, Quang Nam, and Quang Ninh, Binh Dinh provinces, HCMC and Da Nang Cities have been allowed to receive foreign tourists under a trial tourism scheme.
