Respect-paying services for Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong held overseas

WVR/VNA - More foreign officials, international friends, and overseas Vietnamese have come to the country’s diplomatic missions to Mexico, Thailand, and the United Nations to pay homage to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong.

At the respect-paying ceremony opened on July 25 by the Vietnamese Embassy in Mexico, General Secretary of the Labour Party (PT) of Mexico Alberto Anaya Gutierrez expressed deep sadness over the passing of General Secretary Trong, a big friend of the PT and the Mexican people. He also offered condolences to the bereaved family as well as the Government and people of Vietnam.

Extending the deepest condolences, Fernando Gonzalez Saiffe, Director General for Asia-Pacific at the Mexican Foreign Ministry, noted General Secretary Trong is remembered as an eminent leader of Vietnam who made all-out dedications for the sake of the Vietnamese and the friendship with all peoples around the world.

On the first day of the respect-paying service, the embassy received tens of delegations, including representatives of the diplomatic missions of Russia, Iraq, Brazil, Algeria, Egypt, and the Philippines, who came to pay tribute to and send condolences to the Vietnamese Party, Government, and people. The event also saw the presence of delegates from the Mexico - Vietnam Friendship and Cooperation Institute, local businesses, and the Vietnamese community in Mexico.

In Thailand, the two-day service held by the Vietnamese Embassy has received more than 100 delegations, including those of the Thai Government, ministries, sectors, and Buddhist organisation, ambassadors and chargés d’affaires of other countries, representatives of international organisations, together with a large number of Vietnamese.

Present at the ceremony, Thai Senator Lae Dilokvihyarat said the successes Vietnam has obtained under General Secretary Trong’s leadership and his devotion to the country and people are immeasurable. His dedications and contributions will be remembered by the Vietnamese people and the international community forever.

Also on July 25, the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the UN in New York opened a respect-paying ceremony for the Party leader.

More than 50 delegations came to pay tribute to General Secretary Trong and wrote in the book of condolences. They include many ambassadors and chargés d’affaires of countries to the UN, representatives of the New York administration, Vietnamese expatriates, leaders of the Communist Party USA, representatives of left-wing movements in the US, and many local friends of Vietnam.
