Remains of volunteer soldiers found in Cambodia repatriated

The Steering Committee for search, collection, repatriation, and identification of fallen soldiers' remains (Steering Committee 515) of the southern province of Tay Ninh on June 28 held ceremony to receive the remains of 172 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who fell down in Cambodia during the wartime.

The remains were searched and repatriated by Team K70 under Military Zone 7 and Team K71 under the Tay Ninh Military High Command during the 2023-2024 dry season.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Phan Van Long, Political Commissar of Team K71, the remains were collected in the provinces of Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meancheay, Siem Reap, Kampong Cham, and Tbong Khmun from March 1 – June 28.

Members of both teams always upheld a strong sense of responsibility to overcome all difficulties, and closely cooperated with forces of the Military Subdistrict and people of the Cambodian localities in performing their duties, contributing to tightening the friendship and solidarity between the two countries, Long said.

Colonel Do Thanh Viet, Deputy Commissar of the Tay Ninh Military High Command, commended the spirit, responsibility, and achievements by the teams’ officers and soldiers, and thanked the Cambodian localities’ forces for their assistance and support to the teams in their mission.
