Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh successfully concludes visit to Kuwait

WVR - This afternoon, November 18 (local time), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his spouse, along with a high-level Vietnamese delegation, departed Kuwait City, concluding his official visit to Kuwait at the invitation of Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah.

During his three-day stay in Kuwait, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended a welcoming ceremony, met with the Emir of Kuwait, held talks with the Kuwaiti Prime Minister, met with the Crown Prince of Kuwait, and witnessed the signing of cooperation documents...

In various meetings and discussions, Kuwaiti leaders highly praised Vietnam's impressive development achievements in recent times. They expressed confidence that with its increasingly elevated international standing, Vietnam will continue to play an active role in promoting peace, cooperation, and development in the Asia-Pacific region and globally.

Notably, during talks with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, both Prime Ministers agreed to elevate bilateral relations to a strategic partnership, opening up numerous opportunities for cooperation. Building on the newly upgraded strategic partnership framework, the visit also served as an occasion for both sides to affirm their commitment to closely coordinate efforts to enhance the effectiveness and expand the operations of the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Complex. This project is seen as a symbol of the strategic partnership between the two countries, significantly contributing to energy security for both nations.

During discussions, the Vietnamese Prime Minister urged Kuwait to support the early negotiation and signing of the Vietnam-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) FTA; expedite negotiations on a food security agreement and projects supporting the development of the Halal ecosystem in Vietnam; and promote cooperation in defense and security, including the development of dual-use defense equipment such as UAVs, participation in each other's defense exhibitions, and collaboration in addressing non-traditional security challenges, with a desire to enhance cybersecurity cooperation. He also emphasized the importance of boosting cooperation in science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation across various fields; strengthening tourism cooperation, promoting people-to-people exchanges, and enhancing collaboration in labor, culture, sports, and education and training.

The Prime Minister also expressed a desire for Kuwait to increase investment in Vietnam, particularly in the international financial center in Ho Chi Minh City, and to vigorously promote trade.

During the official visit to Kuwait, the Prime Minister also met with several major Kuwaiti economic groups, delivered policy speeches, visited notable economic and cultural establishments, and met with embassy staff and the Vietnamese community in Kuwait.
