WVR - On December 30, in Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien – Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, under Ministry of Foreign Affairs, held a meeting with Mr. Do Van Du – President of the Vietnam-Vanuatu Friendship Association.

During the meeting, Mr. Do Van Du provided an overview of the Vietnamese community in Vanuatu and shared information about the activities of the Friendship Association in uniting and supporting the Vietnamese diaspora. He emphasized the importance of preserving cultural identity, supporting each other in stabilizing their lives, integrating well into the local society, and acting as a bridge to enhance the friendly relations between Vietnam and Vanuatu.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien highly appreciated the role of the Vietnam-Vanuatu Friendship Association in community cohesion.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien praised the role and efforts of the Vietnam-Vanuatu Friendship Association in uniting the community, protecting the legitimate rights of the Vietnamese diaspora, and contributing positively to the socio-economic life of the host country.

The Chairman of the Committee expressed his hope that the Association would continue to play a pivotal role, encouraging the community to unite, comply with local laws, maintain ties with their homeland, and further deepen the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

On this occasion, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese organized a ceremony to present the Bronze Plaque commemorating the first Vietnamese to set foot in New Hebrides (Vanuatu) – a project of profound historical and cultural significance, expressing gratitude to generations of overseas Vietnamese.

On behalf of the Committee, Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien respectfully presented the Bronze Plaque to Mr. Do Van Du, representing the Vietnamese community in Vanuatu.

The implementation and presentation of the Bronze Plaque demonstrate the practical support and companionship of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese with the Vietnamese community in Vanuatu, contributing to preserving historical memory, honoring traditions, and strengthening the bond between the community and the homeland.
