Within the framework of the second Vietnam-Cambodia Border Defence Friendship Exchange, on November 8, breeding cows were presented to poor households living along the two countries’ shared border.

Accordingly, leaders of the Border Guard High Command and Tay Ninh province of Vietnam, and Svay Teap district in Svay Rieng province of Cambodia presented 20 breeding cows, valued at 20 million VND (760 USD) each to 20 households, 10 in Long Thuan commune (Tay Ninh) and 10 in Monorom commune of Svay Teap district.

The initiative aims to help local residents boost economic development, stabilise their livelihoods, and strengthen friendship and solidarity between the two countries.

Major General Vu Quoc An, Deputy Political Commissar of the Border Guard, emphasised that over the past years, the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence has regularly coordinated with the defence ministries of neighbouring countries to organise border defence friendship exchange activities.

The first Vietnam-Cambodia Border Defence Friendship Exchange was held in 2022 in Binh Phuoc province. The second edition will officially take place in Tay Ninh province and Svay Rieng province from November 13 to 14.

On this occasion, the Ministry of National Defence will donate a semi-boarding facility worth 25 billion VND and a modern computer room to Ben Cau Primary School in Tay Ninh province. In addition, 60 scholarships, each valued at 2 million VND, will be awarded to 60 students (30 from Vietnam and 30 from Cambodia).

Previously, the military medical units of both countries coordinated to provide free medical examinations and medicine to nearly 1,000 people in the border areas, demonstrating solidarity and the joint effort to strengthen Vietnam-Cambodia friendship.
