Poet Huu Thinh launches poetic epic 'Dien Bien Symphony'
On April 17, poet Huu Thinh launched his poetic epic Dien Bien Symphony on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the historic victorious battle of Dien Bien Phu.

The writing of the epic was started by poet Huu Thinh on the anniversary of the liberation of Dien Bien Phu (May 7, 2023) and after nearly a year, the work was completed (on March 20, 2024) with enthusiasm and intelligence, wisdom and obligation.
The poetic epic Dien Bien Symphony includes 21 chapters and 5 poetic commentaries, telling about the Dien Bien Phu campaign from the beginning days to the end of the war, and today's life in that sacred land.
With simple lyrics and profound meaning, Dien Bien Symphony certainly not only spreads widely among the poetry lovers community but also conquers many readers.
At the inauguration, poet Huu Thinh said: "Writing about Dien Bien Phu is passionate for me, but at the same time it is overwhelming. The intention to write about this historical victory came to me in the first year of the 21st century, after I read the Memoir of Dien Bien Phu - the historical rendezvous of General Vo Nguyen Giap reflected by writer Huu Mai. However, the accumulation of life experience at that time was still meager I have to focus on my work of governance, so I had to wait until I retired to prepare for this epic."
In the assessment, poet Nguyen Quang Thieu, Chairman of the Vietnam Writers Association, valued the epic as an extremely meaningful literary work aimed at the country's great anniversary, arousing national love and pride, as well as gratitude to the generations of ancestors who sacrificed their lives to regain independence for the Fatherland, and for today's young generation.
Meanwhile, poet Tran Dang Khoa affirmed that the poetic epic "Dien Bien Symphony" itself is "the Dien Bien Phu battle in the literature presented by poet Huu Thinh".
Tran Dang Khoa also comments that the work shows the vitality of a youth 28 of age eventually found in an old poet of 82 years old.
