OVs invest in more than 3,000 firms in HCM City

Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) have invested in more than 3,000 firms in Ho Chi Minh City with a total capital amounting to 45 trillion VND (1.91 billion USD), heard a meeting between the municipal Committee for Overseas Vietnamese and representatives of the group held in the city on September 7.

At the event, participating Vietnamese expatriates got updated on the city’s current situation and development. They were given necessary information about regulations on repatriation, Vietnamese citizenship registration, house purchase, and goods transport, among others.

According to the municipal committee, currently, more than 2 million or about 40% of the total number of overseas Vietnamese come from or have connections with HCM City.

The city has so far attracted more than 400 overseas intellectuals to work for a long term and nearly 200 others to participate in research cooperation projects.

On the occasion, the committee granted certificates of merit by the municipal People’s Committee to overseas Vietnamese with outstanding contributions to the city’s COVID-19 prevention and control.
