Speaking at the event, on behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Director General of the Department of International Organizations Do Hung Viet emphasized that the Viet Nam-US Cooperation Center’s inauguration took place at a very special time when Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has had a very successful working visit to the United States. In particular, the Prime Minister had an open and frank exchange with representatives of more than 30,000 Vietnamese students in the United States.

Assistant Minister Do Hung Viet said that the two sides have 15 educational cooperation projects, including Fulbright University, Peace Corps and now the Viet Nam-US Cooperation Center.

In that context, Assistant Minister Do Hung Viet hopes that the Center will make a positive contribution to the cooperative relationship between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the US Embassy in Vietnam in particular and the bilateral relationship in general, especially in the fields of education, cultural and people-to-people exchanges, which are an integral part of the two countries' relations.

He added that this will be a good opportunity for students of the Diplomatic Academy to expand their knowledge and to know more about Vietnam-US relations, contributing to the cause of "one hundred years of cultivation of people” as the teaching of President Ho Chi Minh.
