Opening ceremony of Japan Room at Diplomatic Academy
WVR - On September 26, Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Thanh Binh, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki and Acting Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, Dr. Pham Lan Dung, cut the ribbon to inaugurate the Japan Room at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam.

Also attending were officials from the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam (JP), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Vietnam; representatives from a number of units of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, students of Japanese language and Japanese studies at the Diplomatic Academy.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Thanh Binh said that the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan are developing effectively in many fields from economics, politics, culture and education. "We are proud that the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the world has brought about remarkable and encouraging results," Deputy Minister Binh emphasized.

According to Deputy Minister Binh, the setting up of the Japanese Language Room is not only for Japanese Studies students but also for all students at the Diplomatic Academy who want to experience Japanese culture.

The Deputy Minister expressed his belief that through academic programs, cultural exchanges, sharing of initiatives and knowledge, the Japanese Room will play an important role in enhancing mutual understanding and promoting the friendly relations between the two countries.

On the Japanese side, Ambassador Ito Naok said that the opening of the Japanese Room at the Diplomatic Academy is the first milestone towards making the bilateral partnership more concrete in the next 50 years.
The Japanese Ambassador noted that the Diplomatic Academy is one among the best higher education institutions in the region, helping to train many leading diplomats and experts of Vietnam.
