The workshop was attended by leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Secretary General of the UNCITRAL Secretariat, representatives of ministries and sectors such as the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the Supreme People's Court, along with a large number of legal experts, senior lecturers, lawyers, arbitrators, representatives of professional organizations, professional associations and relevant international organizations.
In his opening speech, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Anh Tuan emphasized that Vietnam's first election to UNCITRAL for the 2019-2025 term and its re-election for the 2025-2031 term with a high number of votes marked an important step forward in Vietnam's international legal integration process.
The Deputy Foreign Minister affirmed that during the past term, Vietnam has proactively and actively participated in UNCITRAL working groups, especially in close-knit topics such as resolving trade disputes, investment, e-commerce, etc, demonstrating the responsible voice of a developing country in the process of building international legal documents, while taking advantage of opportunities to learn and update modern commercial legal trends.
At the workshop, representatives of the UNCITRAL Secretariat and ministries and sectors acknowledged and appreciated Vietnam's participation and the results that Vietnam has achieved in the past term, reflecting the attention and effective coordination between agencies in promoting international legal integration and ensuring national interests in the process of trade globalization.
Speaking at the workshop, many delegates who are arbitrators, lecturers from universities and research institutes said that Vietnam's next term at UNCITRAL is also a good opportunity for experts who are lecturers, arbitrators and lawyers to promote their professional capacity and contribute more deeply to the development of the country's strategy to participate in international legal forums, especially in key topics such as green economy, digital economy, e-commerce and dispute resolution.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs acknowledged and highly appreciated the enthusiastic and practical contributions of the delegates at the workshop. These opinions are a valuable source of information, contributing to building a strategic orientation for Vietnam's participation in UNCITRAL in the coming term. This is also a step to concretize the task of "actively participating in the building of international institutions and laws" in Resolution No. 66-NQ/TW on innovation in the work of building and enforcing laws, meeting the requirements of national development in the new era.

UNCITRAL is a specialized agency of the Legal Commission of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), established by the UNGA in 1966 to promote the harmonization and unification of international trade law, thereby reducing barriers to the development of international trade.
UNCITRAL currently has 70 member states. The term of each member state is 6 years, elected by the UNGA on the basis of taking into account the balance of factors such as geographical area, economic system and law.
