Under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea, founded by President Kim Il Sung on October 10, 1945, and succeeded by leaders Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Un, the DPRK people have achieved significant accomplishments in building and safeguarding the socialist nation. This includes infrastructure development, mining, heavy industry, healthcare, and education during the 1960s and 1970s, overcoming numerous challenges, especially in energy and food, from the 1990s.
Despite facing numerous challenges due to sanctions and the COVID-19 pandemic, the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea in January 2021 emphasized the task of successfully building socialism, focusing on economic restructuring, promoting scientific and technological development, and comprehensively improving foreign relations...
The Congress outlined a five-year national economic development plan for 2021-2025, affirming the spirit of "self-reliance", focusing on developing the metallurgical and chemical industries, and prioritizing agricultural development.
The Party has led the state to focus on socio-economic development through a "people-centered" policy, continuing to prioritize urgent livelihood issues such as housing and food. It has focused on implementing the 20x10 Local Development Policy (constructing 20 modern factories annually in localities over ten years to narrow regional development gaps) and aims to complete the construction of 50,000 free housing units for workers in Pyongyang by 2025.
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea was one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam on January 31, 1950. Over the past 75 years, the traditional Vietnam-Democratic People's Republic of Korea friendship, founded by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kim Il Sung, has been valued by both Parties and States, and the peoples of both countries, continuously strengthened and developed.
The two sides have maintained mutual support and assistance in the struggle for national liberation and the building of socialism in each country.
During the resistance war for national liberation and reunification, Vietnam received material and spiritual support from Democratic People's Republic of Korea, provided Vietnam with equipment and machinery, helped train students and interns, and pilots to Vietnam...
For its part, the Vietnamese people have supported the Democratic People's Republic of Korea people with tens of thousands of tons of rice on multiple occasions.
Among the areas of cooperation, agriculture stands out. Vietnamese agricultural experts have helped colleagues grasp advanced techniques in rice breeding and cultivation, contributing to recent bountiful harvests.
The traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Democratic People's Republic of Korea have continued to be strengthened and developed in recent years, with a significant milestone being Democratic People's Republic of Korea's leader Kim Jong Un's official friendly visit to Vietnam in early March 2019.
Since the beginning of this year, the two countries have organized a series of activities within the framework of the Vietnam-Democratic People's Republic of Korea Friendship Year, commemorating 75 years of diplomatic relations.
