National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man meets Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea
WVR/VNA - The National Assembly Chairman hopes that the Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea will continue to uphold the spirit of solidarity, contributing to the development of the Republic of Korea as well as the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.

On the afternoon of September 6 (local time), during the official visit to the Republic of Korea, in Seoul, National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man and his spouse met with the staff of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea.
Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man extended wishes of health and warm sentiments from the homeland to the staff of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea.
The National Assembly President also conveyed the kind regards and health wishes from General Secretary, State President To Lam, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, and Standing Member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu to the compatriots living, studying, and working in the Republic of Korea.
Praising the efforts of the Embassy, associations, and compatriots in building a united and stable community, contributing positively to the host country while always looking towards the homeland, the National Assembly President emphasised that this is one of the largest Vietnamese communities abroad, playing an increasingly important role in the relations between the two countries.
Informing about the socio-economic development of the country, the National Assembly President stated that the economic growth in the first six months of the year reached approximately 8.18%; in eight months, the total import-export turnover reached about 770 billion USD. The scale of the economy continues to rise.
Many social welfare policies have been implemented synchronously, aiming to better care for the poor, policy beneficiaries, and those in difficult circumstances. An important task that Vietnam focuses on is building a clean and strong Party and political system; continuing to streamline and enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and performance of the organizational apparatus.
Along with that, national defense and security continue to be ensured; foreign affairs and international integration are strengthened. Vietnam's position and prestige on the international stage continue to rise.

The National Assembly President affirmed that the achievements Vietnam has made include significant contributions from more than 6 million overseas Vietnamese; among them, the Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea has engaged in many practical activities, contributing to the country's development and promoting friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.
Vietnam aims to become a developing country with high middle income by 2030 and a developed country with high income by 2045. To realize these goals, alongside domestic resources, the companionship and contributions of the overseas Vietnamese community are of utmost importance.
Referring to Vietnam-Republic of Korea relations, the National Assembly President assessed that political, trade, investment, cultural, defense, and security relations between the two countries are developing very well. The Republic of Korea is currently the largest foreign direct investor in Vietnam; second in development cooperation and tourism; and third in trade cooperation. The potential for cooperation between the two countries remains vast, especially in fields with high technology content and added value.
Many Republic of Korea enterprises and corporations are interested in and wish to invest in Vietnam in areas such as nuclear power, energy, high-speed rail, and large-scale infrastructure projects. During this visit to the Republic of Korea, many corporations and businesses have registered to work and expressed their desire to expand investment in Vietnam.

According to the National Assembly President, to enhance the effectiveness of attracting investment from the Republic of Korea, Vietnam needs to focus on addressing issues related to technology transfer, semiconductors, Artificial Intelligence (AI), intellectual property, and training high-quality human resources.
The goal is to create a cooperation model where the Republic of Korea provides capital, technology, and management experience, while Vietnam leverages its advantages in production locations, human resources, and market, thereby forming supply chains with increasing participation from Vietnamese enterprises.
The National Assembly President believes that building technology, supply chains, markets, and promoting the role of the Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea should become focal points of parliamentary diplomacy.
The Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea currently has about 400,000 people with increasingly diverse components including: multicultural marriage brides, general laborers, interns, students, along with a large number of scientists, professors, technology experts, and entrepreneurs.
Vietnamese Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Vu Ho affirmed that the community always upholds the tradition of solidarity, mutual support, helping each other to develop, preserving national identity, looking towards the homeland, and contributing positively to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland; serving as a bridge to strengthen the friendly relations between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.
At the meeting, representatives of the Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea emphasized their unwavering commitment to the homeland, expressing pride in the country's strong development and rising position on the international stage.
Community representatives affirmed their continued spirit of mutual support and solidarity, compliance with the host country's laws, preserving the image of Vietnamese people, and serving as a solid bridge to promote the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea to develop more deeply and widely.
Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in the Republic of Korea Dao Tuan Hung proposed that the National Assembly continue to review and complete legal regulations on nationality, creating favorable conditions and removing procedural obstacles for compatriots; issuing special policies and mechanisms, simplifying administrative procedures to attract and encourage high-tech experts, scientists, and entrepreneurs in the Republic of Korea to participate in technology transfer, research cooperation, and investment in developing key sectors of the country.

Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Vietnamese Business Association in the Republic of Korea Ngo Thi proposed building trade connection programs, technology transfer between domestic enterprises and overseas Vietnamese, focusing on digital transformation, high technology, and startups. At the same time, establishing a regular dialogue channel between ministries, sectors, the Embassy, and the business community; forming a focal point to support information and resolve practical trade obstacles.
Regarding issues of concern to the compatriots, National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man stated that on August 2, the Politburo issued Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW on overseas Vietnamese affairs, assigning the Government and the National Assembly to study and issue specific policies and regulations for the overseas Vietnamese community.
Therefore, the opinions and proposals raised by the Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea will be important information for the relevant agencies to continue researching and perfecting policies.
The National Assembly President hopes that the Vietnamese community in the Republic of Korea will continue to uphold the spirit of solidarity, comply well with the host country's laws, actively study, work, produce, and do business, contributing to the development of the Republic of Korea as well as the friendly and cooperative relations between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.
At the same time, the community needs to continue preserving the Vietnamese language, cultural identity, and the nation's good traditions; paying attention to educating the younger generation, especially children in multicultural Vietnamese-Korean families.
