During the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his gratitude for the warm reception by the Italian Senate, believing that the visit will further enhance the Vietnam-Italy Strategic Partnership as well as bilateral parliamentary cooperation.
Informing about the success of the 14th Party Congress and the 16th National Assembly election (March 2026), the Chairman emphasized that Vietnam is accelerating the restructuring of its economy in conjunction with renewing its growth model towards rapid and sustainable development, focusing on digital transformation, green growth, digital economy, and circular economy...
The Chairman affirmed that Vietnam highly values Italy's leading role and position in Europe and globally; he was pleased to see the positive development of bilateral relations, especially after the two sides upgraded their relationship to a Strategic Partnership in 2013.
The Chairman assessed that there is still significant potential for cooperation between the two countries, particularly in areas where Italy has strengths and Vietnam has needs, such as high-tech industries, digital transformation, and the digital economy...
The Vietnamese National Assembly and the Italian Parliament closely exchange and coordinate at regional and international inter-parliamentary forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership (ASEP), contributing to the development of the Vietnam-Italy Strategic Partnership.
To deepen bilateral relations, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man proposed that both sides enhance delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels, especially high-level; effectively coordinate the implementation of visit outcomes and signed cooperation agreements between the two countries, and promote the upgrade of Vietnam-Italy relations to a new level; continue to actively and effectively implement existing cooperation mechanisms in diplomacy, defense, economy, science, and technology; committees of the National Assembly and friendship parliamentary groups share parliamentary activity experiences, particularly in legislation and oversight.
Regarding economic and trade cooperation, the Chairman noted that there is still much potential for collaboration in fields such as fashion, textiles, footwear, digital transformation, and energy; he suggested that both sides continue to effectively implement the Joint Committee mechanism on Vietnam-Italy economic cooperation; leverage the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) to boost investment cooperation in potential areas such as high technology, green economy, finance-services, and logistics...; he urged Italy to promote the remaining EU countries to soon ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), and the European Commission (EC) to soon consider lifting the yellow card on Vietnam's seafood exports and remove Vietnam from the list of non-cooperative tax jurisdictions.
Thanking Italy for providing Vietnam with ODA over the years, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man requested that Italy continue to support ODA for Vietnam in priority areas.
Additionally, the Chairman emphasized the importance of expanding multi-sector cooperation in security-defense, culture-tourism, people-to-people exchanges, education-training, science-technology... and suggested that Italy implement visa exemption policies to facilitate Vietnamese citizens, and enhance exchange programs and experience sharing in related fields.

Warmly welcoming the high-level delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly, Senate Vice President Licia Ronzulli emphasized the traditional Vietnam-Italy relationship and affirmed that Vietnam is a dynamic development model and an important, priority partner for Italy in the Indo-Pacific region.
The Senate Vice President fully agreed with the cooperation directions proposed by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; she affirmed that Italy will promote the effective implementation of the EVFTA and support the ratification process of the EVIPA, as well as efforts to lift Vietnam's IUU "yellow card", considering this an important step to facilitate investment and trade flows.
The Senate Vice President expressed her delight at the significant presence of Italian businesses in Vietnam with many potential cooperation areas in energy, artificial intelligence, innovation, tourism...
Discussing international and regional cooperation, both sides agreed to enhance contact, consultation, cooperation, and mutual support at multilateral forums, particularly at the United Nations, within the ASEAN-EU framework, and inter-parliamentary forums to positively contribute to global peace, stability, and prosperity.
Senate Vice President Licia Ronzulli emphasized Italy's stance in supporting multilateralism, viewing it as a tool to promote peace and the importance of ensuring maritime and aviation security, safety, and freedom.
On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man extended an invitation to the Senate Vice President to visit Vietnam and, through her, conveyed an invitation for an official visit to Vietnam to the President of the Senate.
