During the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man highly appreciated the positive developments in Vietnam-Belgium relations in recent times, particularly the regular exchanges and strengthened political trust between the two sides.
Chairman Tran Thanh Man praised the effective cooperation between the legislative bodies of Vietnam and Belgium, affirming that Vietnam always regards Belgium as an important partner within the European Union (EU).
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man proposed that Belgium continue to support and accompany Vietnam in its new development phase, enhancing cooperation across all fields, especially in areas where Belgium has strengths and Vietnam has needs, such as science and technology, seaports, logistics, semiconductors, green agriculture, climate change response, and combating saltwater intrusion.
The National Assembly Chairman urged Belgium to advocate for the EU to lift the IUU yellow card on Vietnamese seafood and to develop partnership relations in the energy sector.
Belgian Senate President Vincent Blondel expressed his pleasure at meeting National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man during the IPU event, affirming that the meeting continues to demonstrate the excellent and highly trusted cooperative relationship between the two countries. President Vincent Blondel expressed interest in enhancing economic cooperation, further promoting the Strategic Partnership in agriculture, and strengthening cooperation in both traditional and new strategic fields, appreciating progress in visa exemption procedures for European tourists, including Belgians, visiting Vietnam.
With its important position and role in the EU, Vietnam proposed that Belgium continue to coordinate with Vietnam to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the EU; both sides contribute positively to resolving regional and global issues for peace, cooperation, and development.
On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man also invited Belgian senior leaders to visit Vietnam soon. The Belgian Senate President thanked Vietnam for welcoming the King and Queen of Belgium on their official visit to Vietnam and hoped that Chairman Tran Thanh Man and other senior Vietnamese leaders would soon visit Belgium.
