Launch ceremony of the 'Mekong diplomatic training program' project

WVR - On May 12, the Diplomatic Academy held the Launch Ceremony of the "Mekong Diplomatic Training Program" Project, funded by the Mekong-Republic of Korea Cooperation Fund (MKCF) under the Mekong Institute.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Madhurjya Kumar Dutta, Director of the MKCF, along with representatives from the embassies of the Republic of Korea, Laos, Cambodia, and leaders of numerous units from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This training project aims to enhance the capacity of lecturers and foreign affairs officers from Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia to meet new requirements. It is directly implemented by the Training and Capacity Building Department of the Diplomatic Academy.

In his opening speech, Dr. Nguyen Hung Son, President of the Diplomatic Academy, emphasized the importance of training and enhancing the capacity of foreign affairs officers in the Mekong region. He expressed gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Korea, the Mekong Institute, and the MKCF for supporting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam in implementing this meaningful initiative. This marks the beginning of sustainable Mekong diplomatic training cooperation, promoting knowledge sharing, contributing practically to the development of high-quality human resources, and strengthening regional cooperation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Madhurjya Kumar Dutta expressed his readiness to collaborate and support the Academy in implementing the Project effectively. He emphasized enhancing connectivity between diplomatic training institutes and foreign affairs capacity building in the Mekong region, focusing on regional and global issues, aiming towards the common goal of sustainable development.

At the end of the ceremony, Mr. Ngo Quang Anh, Head of the Training and Capacity Building Department, Diplomatic Academy, and Mr. Madhurjya Kumar Dutta exchanged signed cooperation documents between the Diplomatic Academy and the Mekong Institute to implement the Project for the 2026-2028 period.
