International Education Program “AEROKOS”: Inspiring space aspirations among Vietnamese and Russian youth

WVR - On April 16, at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Hanoi, the international education program "AEROKOS" officially commenced. The event strongly inspired Vietnamese and Russian students in the fields of science, technology, and aerospace.

The program, organized by the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Hanoi in collaboration with Samara University named after Academician S.P. Korolev (Russian Federation), aims to enhance cooperation and connect the scientific and technological potential between the two nations. It also seeks to build an advanced learning environment where students can access modern knowledge, nurture a passion for research, and gradually develop a solid technical mindset.

The opening ceremony was attended by Pham Tuan, Hero of the People's Armed Forces, Hero of Labour, Hero of the Soviet Union, and the first astronaut of Vietnam and Asia.

Representing Russian agencies were Mrs. Elena Bezdetko,spouse of the Russian Ambassador to Vietnam; Mr. Vladimir Vladimirovich Murashkin, Chief Representative of the Russian Federal Cooperation Agency in Vietnam; Mr. Goryainov Sergey Borisovich, Director of the Aerokos International Education Project, Head of Training at Samara University named after Academician S.P. Korolev, along with a delegation of experts, lecturers, and numerous high school students nationwide.

In his opening speech, Mr. Vladimir Vladimirovich Murashkin, Director of the Russian Federal Cooperation Agency in Vietnam, emphasized the special significance of the event, coinciding with the anniversary of the first human flight into space (April 12, 1961 - April 12, 2026).

“Today's event holds particularly significant importance, especially in the field of science and technology, as we have demonstrated the ability to conquer the limits of humanity and space,” Mr. Vladimir Vladimirovich Murashkin shared.

He also affirmed that young people have broad opportunities for development, particularly in the field of space science, thereby contributing to the country's development.

According to the Director of the Russian Federal Cooperation Agency, annually, the Vietnamese Government sends about 1,000 students to study in Russia, with engineering being the top priority, demonstrating trust in Russian education and academic exchange between the two countries.

Continuing the program, Mr. Goryainov Sergey Borisovich, Director of the Aerokos International Education Project, Head of Training at Samara University named after Academician S.P. Korolev, shared that the project is part of the Russian Federation's Space Week, aiming to offer exciting career opportunities in science, technology, and aviation.

“The future depends greatly on you. We want to show you how wonderful space is and how science can help you form great dreams,” he affirmed.

The highlight of the program was the Q&A interaction between Lieutenant General Pham Tuan and the high school students present in the hall.

The Lieutenant General shared profound memories of his journey into space and offered sincere advice, inspiring the future generation.

“To successfully complete a space flight, a pilot must first possess courage, iron will, and especially a strong desire to conquer space. Additionally, the skillful control to operate the spacecraft as intended is also a key factor,” Lieutenant General Pham Tuan emphasized.

Addressing the younger generation, the heroic general shared: “I hope you nurture great dreams, but remember that you need to study hard, research, and be determined to turn those dreams into reality.”

After the sharing sessions, students were divided into three specialized project groups led by experienced professors and doctors from the Russian Federation.

Specifically, the groups included the energy and engine manufacturing group (guided by Prof. Dr. Dmitry Alexandrovich Kulabukhov); the robotics and mechatronics group (led by Mr. Maksim Vitalyevich Blokhin, Director of the Modern Digital Technology Training Complex); and the aerospace engineering and rocket group (headed by Mrs. Tatyana Vladimirovna Starostina, an education expert from the Institute of Aerospace and Rocket Engineering).

After listening to the stories of Lieutenant General Pham Tuan, student Pham Gia Han (Class 11A2, Tran Phu High School - Hoan Kiem) shared: “The experiences of Mr. Pham Tuan are truly meaningful, giving me a completely new perspective and more interest in space. I greatly admire his courage and extraordinary effort to accomplish that historic mission. Today’s session has motivated me to explore and study more about science.”

Sharing the same enthusiasm, student Ho Trung Hieu (Class 10 IT 1, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted) found a connection between his passion for technology and the aspiration to conquer space. As an IT major, Hieu was particularly impressed by the determination to overcome the limitations of the previous generation.

“Given the technological constraints of that era, Mr. Pham Tuan and Soviet experts still reached new heights. This makes me think about my responsibility today, how to contribute my youthful energy to this field,” he expressed.

Especially, when exposed to knowledge about Robotics and STEM from experts, Trung Hieu shared: “This knowledge is very new, up-to-date with modern trends that we have not had much opportunity to access in school. Not only did I learn theory, but I also got to meet many new friends with the same passion.”

The "AEROKOS" international education program promises to create an advanced learning environment, nurturing passion and forming a solid technical mindset for Vietnamese students, continuing to write the journey of extensive cooperation between the two nations in the new era.
