Introducing Vietnamese agricultural products and cuisine at UN Bazaar 2023

WVR - On November 14, at the headquarters of the United Nations Office in Geneva, the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations (UN), the World Trade Organization and other international organizations in Geneva participated in the 2023 UN international Bazaar with the theme of “United for Children, Clean Environment”.

This is an annual event jointly organized by the UN Women's Guild-Geneva (UNWG) and the diplomatic missions.

With the purpose of raising funds to help children in difficult circumstances around the world, the Bazaar attracted many diplomatic missions to participate with their own pavilions and thousands of visitors from Swizeland as well as other countries.

As the opening remarks of Ms. Tatiana Valovaya, Director General of the UN Office in Geneva, this Bazzar can be considered an open door to different cultures around the world and served as a bridge between Geneva and international friends.

Pavilions organized diplomatic missions in Geneva help visitors discover souvenirs, enjoy the country's unique culinary arts and traditional musical and art performances.

At the event, Vietnam introduced many unique agricultural and handicraft products from domestic localities such as Dien Bien (coffee, tea, pieu scarves, brocade bags, etc), Tay Nguyen (coffee and pepper), lovely products made of ceramics, bamboo, rattan, sedge, silk (tie, embroidered scarves...) and traditional candies such as Siu Chau candy and green bean cakes.

Vietnam's culinary stalls attracted a large number of tourists who came to enjoy traditional dishes such as Hanoi spring rolls, Pho (Vietnamese noodle soup), and Bun Bo Nam Bo (Southern-style rice vermicelli with stir-fried beef). Many visitors, after discovering 2 Vietnamese pavilions, said that they will definitely visit Vietnam in the near future.

Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai, head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the UN, the WTO and other international organizations in Geneva, said that in recent years, said that in recent years, the UNWG has provided support for disadvantaged children, offering relief from natural disasters and epidemics and granting scholarships to children in many countries.

By introducing Vietnamese handicrafts and cuisine at the bazaar, the delegation helped to elevate the image of the nation and its people and made a significant contribution to charity activities run by the UNWG.

Ambassadors, officials and their spouses always actively participate in the activities of the UNWG, contributing to enhancing the role of women in diplomatic activities and humanitarian mission for peace and development in the world.

UN Bazaar 2023 warmly strengthens the solidarity of international delegations and organizations in Geneva, joining hands to raise funds to help disadvantaged children in Africa.
