Hanoi is taking steps to speed up digitalization in the tourism sector to meet the changing demand of tourists and increase their digital experience.

Nguyen Thu Hang, a visitor from the northern province of Ninh Binh, said that she and her group booked tickets for the site online, which she found very convenient and fast.

A similar process has also been applied in many other relic sites across the city, including the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Hoa Lo Prison, and Bat Trang Pottery Village.

The capital city has implemented a digital tourism map in different languages, serving its smart tourism development. The map is being piloted in Hoan Kiem, Hoang Mai, Nam Tu Liem, Dong Anh, and Thach That districts and is expected to be deployed in other localities.

Since the beginning of 2023, the municipal Tourism Department has launched a database of the sector, which comprises data in various areas such as tourism resources and products, entertainment, travel firms, accommodation facilities, culture, sports and tourism events, healthcare services, and transportation, supporting localities and businesses to build their tourism development plans.

The department director, Dang Huong Giang, said that the department has listed all 26 relevant administrative procedures on the city's online public service portal and is working to make them available on the national portal for public services. The department has proposed the city People’s Committee approve the restructuring of the procedures, and the digitalization of all public services of the department, Giang said.

Alongside, the city has developed smart utilities to support tourism management and promotion activities and provide better services to tourists in seeking information, along with software to collect and analyze data to evaluate the situation of agricultural and rural tourism.
