HAGL FC receives large bonus from AFC

HAGL FC have been awarded a bonus of US$70,000 after earning five points in Group H during the ongoing 2022 AFC Champions League.

According to a representative of the club, HAGL FC received US$50,000 from the tournament’s organising board after beating A-League side Sydney FC in their last match.

Furthermore, the players had also been presented with US$20,000 after holding Sydney FC to a draw in their second fixture of Group H.

Along with the AFC’s bonus, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) also awarded a total of VND900 million, equivalent to over US$39,000, to HAGL FC for their one win and two draws in the group.

Following their victory, HAGL FC earned a direct slot in the AFC Champions League group stage, one slot in the AFC Champions League qualifying round, and a place in the AFC Cup group stage for the 2024 to 2025 season.

Moreover, Viet Nam climbed two places to 12th, overtaking China in the latest AFC Club Competitions Ranking following the improved performance of HAGL in the 2022 AFC Champions League.

With the additional five points earned by HAGL in the tournament, Viet Nam now has 21,752 points, which puts them above China in 15th place with 18,650 points, according to Footy Rankings, a database website that focuses on Asian football.

In Southeast Asia, Vietnam remain behind Malaysia on 24,450 points and Thailand on 22,550 points.
