Vietnamese Ambassador to Bulgaria Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, Embassy staff, and representatives of Vietnamese community in Bulgaria welcome General Secretary To Lam and spouse at the airport.
This marks the first visit by the head of the Communist Party of Vietnam to Bulgaria in 50 years, signifying a new development in the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Bulgaria.
Bulgaria was among the first countries in the world to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam in 1950. The visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1950-2025) – a steadfast and trusted relationship, nurtured over decades, from the struggle for national independence to the building and development of the nation.
This is also the fourth high-level delegation exchange in the past three years, reflecting the excellent political relations and strategic trust between the leaders of both sides.
In recent times, the relationship between the two countries has thrived, with regular exchanges of delegations at all levels, including high-level contacts, and the periodic implementation of bilateral cooperation mechanisms. Both sides support each other at multilateral forums such as the United Nations and as partners within the ASEAN-EU strategic partnership and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The visit by General Secretary To Lam and his spouse symbolizes political trust, enduring bonds, and the shared aspirations of the peoples of both countries, creating new momentum to elevate Vietnam-Bulgaria relations to a new height, befitting the 75-year tradition of friendship and the vast potential for cooperation between the two nations in their strategically important locations in Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe.
