At the invitation of Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam To Lam, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, will make a state visit to the Republic of India from May 5-7, 2026.
India is one of Vietnam's leading comprehensive strategic partners in the region, with both sides enjoying high political trust, shared strategic interests, and a longstanding foundation of cultural and ethnic exchanges. Meanwhile, Vietnam is a crucial partner in India's "Act East" policy and in the Indo-Pacific region, based on common interests to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the area.
These are vital foundations to further develop the comprehensive strategic partnership more robustly, effectively, and deeply, maximizing the potential and advantages of both countries.
In 2026, Vietnam and India will celebrate the 10th anniversary of elevating their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership, marking a decade of significant progress in political, economic, cultural, and religious exchanges, as well as the close and enduring friendship between the people of Vietnam and India.
