General Secretary, President To Lam presents Appointment Decisions to five Vietnamese Ambassadors

WVR - On the afternoon of April 28, at the Presidential Palace, General Secretary, President To Lam presided over the Ceremony for presenting the Appointment Decisions for Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to a number of countries and international organizations.

According to the announced decisions, cHead of the Department of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Training, Diplomatic Academy Trinh Minh Manh has been appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to the Republic of India, concurrently to the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal and the Kingdom of Bhutan.

Acting Director of the Institute for Strategic Studies in Diplomacy Nguyen Huong Tra has been appointed as the Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, concurrently to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and also as the Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the European Union.

Deputy Director General of the Directorate of State Protocol and Interpretation Chau Mai Anh has been appointed as the Ambassador to the Swiss Confederation, concurrently to the Principality of Liechtenstein.

Deputy Director of the Information and Documentation Centre, under Diplomatic Academy, Doan Khanh Tam has been appointed as the Ambassador to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

Deputy Director of the East Sea Institute Nguyen Thanh Le has been appointed as the Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan, concurrently to the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, the Republic of Tajikistan, and Georgia.

These are all well-trained officials with extensive experience in various fields of diplomacy, having held significant positions both domestically and internationally. The appointment of these officials to the position of Ambassador in key areas, diverse in partners and nature of relations, reflects Vietnam's proactive and comprehensive international integration policy.

On behalf of the newly appointed Ambassadors, Mr. Trinh Minh Manh, Ambassador of Vietnam to India, affirmed the determination to promote solidarity, build a strong representative mission, thereby creating a synergy between the agencies inside and outside the Embassy to fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party and the State.

The Ambassador emphasized that the officials will continuously improve their political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, and professional skills; while focusing on training and nurturing local staff. The goal is to build a team that meets the requirements: correct orientation, strict discipline, and solid expertise, as directed by Politburo Member, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung.

Additionally, the Ambassadors pledged to continue innovating their thinking, approach, and methods, proactively learning new things, associated with promoting digital transformation, to enhance the effectiveness of the Vietnamese Representative Missions abroad in the new context.

In his task assignment speech, General Secretary, President To Lam emphasized that the world and regional contexts are undergoing rapid, complex changes, intertwining both opportunities and challenges. In this situation, foreign affairs continue to play a pioneering role in ensuring a peaceful and stable environment, while maximizing external resources for national development.

The General Secretary, President affirmed that this Ambassador appointment not only acknowledges the training and growth of the officials but also entrusts them with significant responsibilities, requiring each individual to continuously strive, fully utilize their qualities, capabilities, and political acumen.

The General Secretary, President urged the new Ambassadors to deeply grasp and effectively implement the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation, and development; multilateralizing and diversifying foreign relations. On this basis, they need to be proactive and creative in promoting and deepening bilateral relations with partner countries, while enhancing effective participation in multilateral mechanisms.

Particularly, there is a need to focus on promoting cooperation in key areas such as economy, trade, investment, science – technology, innovation, digital transformation, and green transition, thereby contributing to achieving the national development goals by 2030 and vision to 2045.

Besides the task of promoting development cooperation, the General Secretary, President reminded the Ambassadors to pay special attention to citizen protection, ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese people abroad; while caring for and strengthening the national unity bloc, leveraging the resources of overseas Vietnamese for the cause of national construction and development.

Research, situation forecasting, and strategic advisory work were also emphasized as important tasks, helping the Party and State leaders make timely and effective decisions.

The appointment ceremony is not only a significant milestone for each individual appointed but also contributes to strengthening the force implementing foreign affairs in the new phase, aiming to enhance Vietnam's position, prestige, and positive contributions to peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
