On the morning of April 27, ahead of the anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2026) and International Workers' Day on May 1, General Secretary, President To Lam and the Central Delegation visited and encouraged workers in Ho Chi Minh City.

Also in attendance were: Politburo members, Secretariat members, Party Central Committee members, leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, leaders of central ministries, sectors, and Ho Chi Minh City.

After listening to reports from representatives of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and hearing numerous opinions from worker representatives, General Secretary, President To Lam expressed his emotions over the simple yet precious stories. These simple aspects of life highlight the beauty of today's Vietnamese workers: diligent, resilient, responsible, loving family, and committed to colleagues, enterprises, the Trade Union, and the nation.

The General Secretary, President was pleased to see that, in recent times, various levels of trade unions, the Ho Chi Minh City administration, enterprises, and the social community have taken practical actions to care for workers.

Many programs supporting housing, healthcare, gifts for disadvantaged workers, support for workers' children, and assistance for those with serious illnesses, work accidents, or job loss have been implemented. Although these actions may not resolve all difficulties, they are warm, humane, and reflect the good nature of our regime, ensuring no one is left behind.

Sharing the difficulties and shortages that workers still face, the General Secretary, President emphasized that we must look directly, listen carefully, and resolve issues with responsibility and compassion.

Caring for workers is not just about providing material support during holidays; more importantly, it is about creating stable jobs, better income, safer working environments, decent housing, convenient schools, closer medical services, and a richer cultural and spiritual life. Workers must live in increasingly better conditions, commensurate with their significant contributions to enterprises, the city, and the country.

The General Secretary, President affirmed that Party and State always recognize the working class as a crucial force in the cause of building and defending the nation.

In every revolutionary phase, Vietnamese workers have always been present in difficult and challenging places, on construction sites, in factories, in industrial zones, and in production, service, transport, technology, processing, and manufacturing sectors. The hands, minds, sweat, and creativity of the workers have contributed to the developmental achievements of the country.

The General Secretary, President urged Ho Chi Minh City to continue considering the care for workers' lives as an important, regular, and long-term political task.

The city needs to thoroughly review the needs for social housing, worker accommodations, schools, kindergartens, health stations, cultural institutions, and community spaces in industrial zones, export processing zones, and areas with a high concentration of workers; ensuring that workers not only have jobs but also stable housing; not only income but also conditions to raise and educate their children; not only labour but also rest, study, play, and enhance their spiritual life.

The General Secretary, President requested that trade unions be closer to workers, understand them better, speak on their behalf, and protect their legitimate rights and interests. Trade unions must be present promptly when workers face difficulties, illness, wage arrears, unemployment, work accidents, or life events. Trade unions should not only organize movements but truly be a warm home and a reliable support for members and workers.

Enterprises and employers should continue to pay more attention to their workers. For sustainable development, enterprises must care for their workers; ensure wages, benefits, working conditions, and occupational safety; listen to initiatives, respect dignity, and create learning opportunities to improve workers' skills. When workers feel secure, attached, and proud of their workplace, the enterprise will also be stronger, more stable, and develop longer.

The General Secretary, President shared that our country is entering a new development phase with many opportunities but also numerous challenges. Science and technology are changing rapidly; demands for productivity, quality, and professional skills are increasing.

He hopes that workers will continue to maintain their faith, solidarity, and determination to rise; actively learn trades, improve skills, cultivate industrial manners, labor discipline, digital skills, and foreign languages if possible. The General Secretary, President advised each worker to strive to learn a new skill, do their job better each day, and boldly propose initiatives, technical improvements, save materials, ensure safety, and enhance product quality.

General Secretary, President To Lam suggested that innovation is not something distant. Innovation can start from a more reasonable operation, a more scientific arrangement of the production line, or an idea that saves time, reduces accidents, lessens labour, and increases productivity. These simple initiatives, if appreciated and expanded, will create great strength for enterprises and the economy.

Emphasizing that life is still challenging, the General Secretary, President hopes that workers will maintain their health, care for their families, raise their children, live with kindness, solidarity, and help each other in boarding houses, workshops, and communities. Vietnamese workers are not only skilled but also beautiful in their hearts, in their kindness, and in sharing during difficult times.

The General Secretary, President shared that behind growth targets, factories, industrial zones, and production lines, there is the very specific life of each worker, each worker's family, and each child of a worker. Every correct policy, practical action, and timely attention can help a family reduce difficulties, give a patient more strength, provide a child with better conditions to attend school, and give a worker more faith in the future.

With the traditional kindness of Ho Chi Minh City, and the responsibility of the Party Committee, government, Vietnam Fatherland Front, trade unions, enterprises, and the entire society, General Secretary, President To Lam believes that the lives of workers will continue to improve; workers in Ho Chi Minh City will continue to uphold the tradition of diligence, creativity, kindness, and solidarity; caring well for their families while making worthy contributions to the development of the city named after Uncle Ho and our beloved Vietnam.
