“The Lens of Diplomacy”: Photo exhibition marks 50 years of Vietnam-Thailand relations
WVR - On the morning of July 24, at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, the Embassy of Thailand in Vietnam, in collaboration with the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, inaugurated the photo exhibition "The Lens of Diplomacy: 50 Years of Thailand-Vietnam Relations", marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (August 6, 1976 - August 6, 2026).

The event was attended by the Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Urawadee Sriphiromya, General Director of VNA Vu Viet Trang, former Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Phan Chi Thanh, Director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum Nguyen Anh Minh, along with numerous domestic and international delegates.
The exhibition showcases a series of archival and contemporary photos highlighting significant milestones in the bilateral relationship, from high-level visits, cultural diplomacy to economic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, thereby recreating the half-century journey of companionship and development between Vietnam and Thailand.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Urawadee Sriphiromya affirmed that the exhibition is one of the key activities in the series of events commemorating the 50th anniversary of Thailand-Vietnam diplomatic relations.
According to the Ambassador, the series of activities taking place in 2026, from cultural exchanges, youth interactions, academic dialogues to business connections, reflect the increasingly deep and broad development of bilateral relations and the enduring friendship nurtured over generations.

Emphasising the significance of the event, Ambassador Urawadee Sriphiromya shared: “The photos will take us back in time, allowing us to revisit important milestones, friendships, and moments of trust that have contributed to one of the closest and most dynamic partnerships in Southeast Asia.”
The exhibition not only recreates state visits, high-level meetings, or significant cooperation milestones but also captures everyday moments such as friendly handshakes, shared smiles, cultural exchanges, artistic creativity, and collaboration between the business communities of the two countries.
Accordingly, diplomacy is not only built through government activities but also nurtured from people-to-people connections, from education, culture, entrepreneurship to everyday gestures.

The Ambassador expressed confidence that the exhibition will help the public better understand the journey of companionship between Thailand and Vietnam, thereby continuing to nurture friendship and open up new opportunities for cooperation in the future.
Sharing at the event, General Director of VNA Vu Viet Trang stated that the exhibition gathers images selected from the archives of the Vietnam News Agency, the Thai Embassy in Vietnam, and valuable archival materials from the Department of State Records and Archives.

According to her, during the preparation of the exhibition, many photos of high-level interactions, cooperation activities across various fields, and moments of exchange between the peoples of the two countries left a deep impression, vividly reflecting the development process of Vietnam-Thailand relations over the past half-century.
The VNA representative emphasized that the exhibition not only contributes to preserving and promoting the value of precious historical documents but also provides the public, especially the younger generation, with a more visual perspective on the development journey of bilateral relations.
Sharing with TG&VN, Dr. Phan Chi Thanh, former Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand, stated that cultural, artistic, and people-to-people exchanges always play an important role in strengthening bilateral relations. According to him, the exhibition helps bring the historical documents and the value of the friendship between the two nations closer to the public.

The diplomat emphasized that people-to-people exchanges are the "lifeblood" of Vietnam-Thailand relations. According to him, frequent connections in the fields of culture, education, tourism, and art will be a crucial foundation to enhance trust, understanding, and bonding between the people of the two countries, thereby driving the bilateral relationship to continue developing.

On this occasion, Dr. Phan Chi Thanh also presented the painting Goc pho tuoi tho (A childhood street corner) created by himself to the Thai Embassy in Vietnam.
The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge from July 24-30, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (closed on Mondays), at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, 66 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Hanoi.
