Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung holds phone talks with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand

During the call, Minister Le Hoai Trung affirmed that Vietnam highly values Canada's important role and voice in international and regional matters. He emphasised that Vietnam always treasures its relationship with Canada and stands ready to work with Canada to enhance substantive cooperation, aiming to soon upgrade the framework of the Vietnam-Canada Comprehensive Partnership, in line with the level of political trust, cooperation potential, and the interests of the people of both countries.
Minister Le Hoai Trung appreciated the close coordination between the two sides in effectively implementing the outcomes of the phone talks between Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on July 21, 2026, as well as the meeting between the two Ministers on July 22, 2026, on the sidelines of the 59th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting in the Philippines.
Minister Le Hoai Trung suggested that both sides continue to closely coordinate to concretize the elevation of relations as desired by the leaders of the two countries. He called for deepening political trust through exchanges of delegations at all levels and channels, prioritizing the promotion of high-level visits between the two countries' leaders. He also emphasized the need to strengthen the connection between the two economies and the Vietnam-ASEAN-Canada-North America supply chain linkages, and to continue promoting cooperation in science, technology, innovation, security, defense, education, high-quality human resource training, and close coordination at regional and international forums.

For her part, Minister Anita Anand reaffirmed that Canada considers Vietnam an important partner in the ASEAN and Indo-Pacific regions. She shared Minister Le Hoai Trung's views on the coordination between the two sides in recent times to promote high-level visits between the leaders of the two countries and elevate Canada-Vietnam relations to new heights.
The Canadian Foreign Minister agreed to strengthen coordination and expand cooperation in areas where both sides have strengths and complementary needs. She encouraged ministries, sectors, localities, and businesses of both countries to enhance connectivity and proactively propose specific cooperation initiatives and projects.
The two Ministers agreed to maintain regular exchanges between the two Ministers and the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, thereby contributing to promoting Vietnam-Canada relations to develop more substantively, effectively, and deeply.
