Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung receives Deputy Foreign Minister of Uruguay Valeria Csukasi Cabrera in Hanoi
WVR - On August 17, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Politburo Member and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung met with Deputy Foreign Minister of Uruguay Valeria Csukasi Cabrera during her working visit to Vietnam from August 16 to 18, 2026.

During the meeting, Minister Le Hoai Trung welcomed Deputy Minister Valeria Csukasi Cabrera back to Vietnam and appreciated the activities of the delegation, which contribute to concretizing the bilateral agenda and deepening the relationship.
The Foreign Minister affirmed that Vietnam values its traditional relationship with Uruguay, appreciates Uruguay's role, position, and contributions to the regional and global community, and respects the achievements Uruguay has attained under President Yamandu Orsi's administration.
Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung expressed satisfaction with the development of bilateral relations in recent times, particularly high-level exchanges, activities of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, mutual support at multilateral forums, and the rapid growth of trade relations, although not yet commensurate with potential.
The Minister suggested that both sides coordinate to arrange and prepare for high-level delegation exchanges, strengthen party-to-party relations, relations between the two National Assemblies, and ministries of both countries; exchange information and connect businesses to translate political will and cooperation potential into concrete results.
The Minister also hoped that both sides would enhance their roles in connecting and supporting each other in strengthening relations with regional institutions such as CELAC, MERCOSUR, and ASEAN, while promoting the role of a gateway linking Southeast Asia and Latin America.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Uruguay thanked Minister Le Hoai Trung for taking the time to meet and shared insights on bilateral relations; affirming that Uruguay places special importance on enhancing strategic relations with Vietnam in a world of complex and unpredictable developments.
The Deputy Minister fully agreed with the strategic directions outlined by Minister Le Hoai Trung and confirmed Uruguay's readiness to cooperate to elevate bilateral relations through concrete steps, while closely coordinating with Vietnam in inter-regional cooperation.
The Deputy Minister expressed a desire to strengthen relations between the two National Assemblies, business communities, and trade promotion agencies of both countries, while further promoting cooperation in combating transnational crime, culture, and sports, particularly football, to connect the friendship between the peoples of both nations.

Concluding the meeting, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung conveyed greetings and regards to Uruguay's Minister of Foreign Affairs Mario Lubetkin and expressed confidence in the robust development of Vietnam-Uruguay relations in the future.
During the visit to Vietnam, Deputy Foreign Minister of Uruguay Valeria Csukasi Cabrera also held discussions with Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Hoang Giang to explore measures to enhance bilateral relations in political-diplomatic, economic-trade, investment, multilateral cooperation, culture, education, tourism, and sports; and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
The Deputy Minister also had meetings with the Chairman of the Vietnam-Uruguay Friendship Parliamentary Group, leaders of the Ministries of Public Security, Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Environment, along with several Vietnamese enterprises.
