At the invitation of Japanese Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son will pay an official visit to Japan and co-chair the 12th meeting of the Vietnam-Japan Cooperation Committee from August 7-10, 2024.
It is expected that Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and Japanese Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko will review the results achieved since the 11th Vietnam-Japan Cooperation Committee meeting on May 30, 2019.
Over the past time, the Vietnam-Japan relationship has developed strongly, comprehensively and substantively. notably the two countries have twice upgraded the relationship framework to an Extensive Strategic Partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia in 2014 and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World. The two sides also successfully organized activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations in 2023.
Amidst the robust development of the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, marked by high political trust and strong cooperation in economic, trade, and investment, as well as in human resource development, education and training, local cooperation, cultural exchange, and people-to-people exchange, the relationship has been vigorously promoted and continuously expanded, becoming increasingly in-depth and effective.
In the future, Vietnam values and wishes to concretize the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Japan by enhancing political trust through the exchange of delegations at various levels and high-level channels between the Party, Government, and National Assembly; and by strengthening economic linkages between the two countries.
Vietnam hopes that Japan will support its industrialization and modernization efforts by providing new generation ODA for strategic infrastructure projects such as urban railways; promoting investment cooperation, encouraging Japanese businesses to increase investment, transfer technology, and fostering cooperation with Vietnam in new areas such as green transition, digital transformation, energy transition, and exchanges between the younger generations of the two countries.
The two sides will also promote cooperation in high-quality human resources, teaching Japanese in Vietnam, local cooperation, cultural exchange, and strengthen cooperation in addressing the issue of an aging population.
