In her speech introducing the draft resolution, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Van Anh emphasized the initiative's goal to further enhance the crucial role of culture in contributing to sustainable development both nationally and globally.

At the same time, it aims to address the complex challenges of the era through specific activities to raise awareness, strengthen political will, mobilize resources, increase investment in cultural and creative industries, and promote action at all levels to ensure a safe and prosperous future for everyone.
The initiative “International decade for culture for sustainable development” is highly appreciated by the UNESCO Director-General and member countries, as it aligns with the organization's strategy and current common concerns. UNESCO is actively promoting the integration of culture into post-2030 development policies, facilitating Vietnam's proposal of the initiative.
After the resolution was adopted, Ernesto R. Ottone, UNESCO Assistant Director-General, expressed his delight at the broad support from member countries for Vietnam's initiative.
He stated that if approved by the United Nations, this initiative would facilitate the continued integration of culture into the development agenda of the world's largest multilateral organization post-2030.
The initiative “International decade for culture for sustainable development” is a concrete step to implement the Party and State's policies on culture and international integration in the new context.
The initiative reflects the spirit of Resolution 59-NQ/TW on international integration in the new context, positioning Vietnam as an active, responsible partner, ready to contribute to shaping strategies and policies, and willing to responsibly contribute to the international community's common work.
According to Ambassador Nguyen Thi Van Anh, this is the first large-scale initiative by Vietnam at UNESCO after many years of participation in the organization.
If endorsed by the United Nations, this will be a globally significant initiative marked by Vietnam, representing a strategic contribution to UNESCO, helping to promote UNESCO's goals and affirming its leadership role in the field of culture worldwide.

Through proposing this initiative, Vietnam aims to send a strong message to international friends about the aspiration to jointly create a peaceful, prosperous, and humane future for all humanity, based on enhanced cultural cooperation on a global scale.
Once the United Nations agrees to launch the “International decade for culture for sustainable development”, UNESCO will organize and coordinate its implementation with related organizations within the United Nations system and other partners.
