Dong Thap Muoi: Masterpiece of natural castle

In the past, Dong Thap Muoi, which is consisting of three provinces of Dong Thap, Long An and Tien Giang, was once considered a "flood-prone area", a place to have water rushing in after floods from the upstream of the Mekong River every year, causing the entire area to be flooded all the time.

Nature's creation has turned this place into a swamp, a kingdom of particular flora and fauna living on the "alum bag" - an area with only original Vietnamese melaleuca carpets (also known as melaleuca wind) and rows of almond trees grow unconsciously in the harsh soil. This has shown the vital survival of creatures in the natural environment before any seasonal weather conditions.

With planning and investing efforts in irrigation systems since 1976, after nearly half a century, this "neck of the woods" has transformed spectacularly into a prosperous land, a tourist destination—the foundation for agricultural development. The time has come for Dong Thap Muoi Ecological Reserve to change its title to "ecotourism," a mission that cannot be delayed.

“Quang Tram Ancient Citadel” – Dong Thap Muoi Conservation & Ecotourism Area

Considered the heart of the whole region (Long An, Dong Thap and Tien Giang), the ecological reserve in Tan Phuoc district, Tien Giang, is a place to preserve the magic of nature. With the most diverse and dense ecosystem in the Mekong Delta, mainly Melaleuca, this is indeed the green lung of the land along the Tien River.

A moat system surrounds the natural terrain, and the internal canal network has been expanded, creating a unique architecture that looks like a "medieval capital". In the past, lavish citadel architecture was always based on three criteria: Logical square design, location adjacent to the water like a natural defensive moat, and South direction to optimize feng shui. Today, Dong Thap Muoi Conservation and Ecotourism Area achieves those three criteria and surpasses all beauty standards.

After liberation, Dong Thap Muoi Conservation and Ecotourism Area was under the management and renovation of local authorities and functional units. They have divided the areas from the periphery to the centre. The ecological density gradually increases, home to more than 156 plants, 147 kinds of birds, 34 types of fish, eight types of amphibians and 30 types of insects, including many scarce species such as red-crowned cranes. The yearly return of migratory animals proves that the natural environment here is still preserved, creating ideal conditions for maintaining pristine ecosystems.

Sitting on a kayak and floating gently around a canal full of blooming lotuses on a beautiful day is so magical and poetic. Shortly, Dong Thap Muoi Conservation and Ecotourism Area will receive a significant investment from a leading corporation in the field of ecotourism in the Mekong Delta, joining forces with the Management Board to show off its features and marking a significant turning point to enhance the development of the region.

Harmony Between Economy - Environment

Dong Thap Muoi, which combines economic development with environmental conservation, is a typical example of sustainable development. Smart agriculture, using high technology and clean production practices, has helped improve people's lives and increase the country's food independence.

Ecotourism activities are also widely promoted, attracting domestic and foreign tourists. The service system is strongly developed, providing living experiences, closeness - and attachment to nature while creating a stable source of income for local people. Furthermore, maintaining biodiversity also helps strengthen valuable genetic resources for conservation science research.

The Role of International Integration

Expect to be recognized as a unique destination like Tra Su or Tram Chim, Dong Thap Muoi ecological reserve is not only the pride of the three provinces of Long An, Dong Thap and Tien Giang but also a symbol of harmony between the common sense of all things. Cultural space is a place to preserve and promote traditional values while creating opportunities for international understanding and cooperation on the environment.

The Dong Thap Muoi ecological reserve area will be bustling in the next few days! Attractive tours around the moat serve professional smoke-free tourism, aiming at new goals.

Under the hands of an experienced investor, an enlightened mindset from an original conservation area will quickly promote many creative elements to become a "dual land" of the beautiful Dong Thap Muoi ecological reserve in Tien Giang province and spread to Dong Thap and Long An.
