When director Hoang Cong Cuong begins planning the opening ceremony of the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Viet Nam, he understands that this is not simply the opening ceremony of a sporting event in Southeast Asia like previous times.

This time, the program's story, screenplay, and construction are all Olympic-inspired. The program's purpose of exposing Vietnamese culture to overseas acquaintances is achieved successfully. He and the other members of the Organizing Committee want to showcase technology, culture, people, history, and pride.

In order to have an opening ceremony with a strong national identity, director Hoang Cong Cuong spends a lot of time researching historical events, from the first British industrial revolution that opened the civilized world, to the 2008 Beijing Olympics about the history of Chinese culture 5000 years ago or the Rio Olympics in Brazil,… all to convey a message of Southeast Asia – “For a stronger Southeast Asia”.

All of the performances during the 31st Southeast Asian Games' opening ceremony are linked. While many other countries rarely discuss their national flag during flag-raising ceremonies, the 31st SEA Games Organizing Committee describes the flag as a holy mark and a source of national pride. Following that image is a sequence of Vietnamese cultural stories that have been skillfully displayed by a talented group of artists.

For the first time, Viet Nam deployed sophisticated AR technology in conjunction with Mapping, XR to sound and light in spectacular scenes across the entire surface of My Dinh National Stadium, and the audience was captivated.

From the Dong Son bronze drum, which opened the festival, opening the daily life of the wet rice agricultural civilization of Southeast Asian countries, to the image of a Dragon flying in the Ly dynasty, symbolizing the mighty and sublimated capital, a capital of a thousand years of civilization. Vietnamese and Southeast Asian cultures are harmoniously, cogently, and inextricably intertwined.

The outcome of a 100% Vietnamese squad at the SEA Games 31. For the first time in Viet Nam's history, an event has created such a logical and beneficial scenario line, with advanced technologies previously only available at foreign events being used in the National Stadium.

Tran Ly Ly, General Director said: “This is the first time in television history that a running generics segment is 6-minute long, which is bad since there are too many people in different places. I have several responsibilities, but I must be the one who understands the game and the roles and responsibilities of each individual in order to connect each link, collaborate effectively, and develop a flawless program.

Without including the performers, the State's camera crews, or the media agencies, the camera crews in charge of the program behind the scenes has reached 600-700 people. It's not simple to bring such a large group together, but filmmaker Hoang Cong Cuong has succeeded."
