Deputy FM Nguyen Minh Hang meets with Chilean counterpart to strengthen comprehensive cooperation
WVR - On the morning of October 24, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang received Deputy Foreign Minister of Chile Gloria de la Fuente on the occasion of attending the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime in Hanoi.

Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang welcomed Deputy Foreign Minister of Chile Gloria de la Fuente to Vietnam; emphasizing that the presence of the Chilean delegation in Vietnam demonstrates Chile's commitment to collaborating with the international community in combating cybercrime and transnational crime, while also contributing to the promotion of bilateral relations between the two countries.
Deputy Minister Hang affirmed that Vietnam always values the traditional friendship established by the late President Salvador Allende and President Ho Chi Minh in 1969. Recalling fond memories from accompanying President Luong Cuong on a visit to Chile in November 2024, Deputy Minister Hang reiterated the determination and efforts of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to further strengthen the excellent friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries based on the foundation of high-level agreements achieved.

For her part, Deputy Foreign Minister of Chile Gloria de la Fuente expressed her delight at visiting Vietnam for the first time; highly appreciating Vietnam's role in promoting initiatives on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation on the international stage in recent times. She expressed confidence that the signing ceremony of the Hanoi Convention would be a great success; affirming that Chile values Vietnam's position and role and wishes for the two countries' Ministries of Foreign Affairs to cooperate closely, elevating the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Chile to a new height.
Expressing joy over the positive developments in bilateral relations, both sides shared the necessity of enhancing exchanges and contacts at all levels, especially at the high level in 2026 on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations (March 25, 1971 - March 25, 2026); continuing to effectively, regularly, and flexibly implement the mechanism of Political Consultations at the Deputy Foreign Minister level and the Free Trade Council to resolve difficulties and obstacles, bringing political-diplomatic, economic-trade, and investment relations in line with their potential.
Sharing views on the global situation, the two Deputy Ministers agreed on the need to continue leveraging the CPTPP to enhance economic-trade-investment relations; closely coordinating to open markets for agricultural products of Vietnam and Chile as directed by the high-level leaders of the two countries. Additionally, both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in international organizations, promoting the role of international law and multilateralism for peace, stability, cooperation, and prosperity in both regions and globally.
