Cua Van fishing village among world’s 17 fairy-tale places

Cua Van, a small fishing village located in the northern province of Quang Ninh, has been named as one of the 17 best fairy-tale places worldwide by renowned website Bright Side.

In an article compiled by the popular travel site, the village is listed seventh out of a total of 17 locations.

The scenic fishing village of Cua Van can be found situated in Ha Long Bay. This floating fishing village is one of the largest in the world and it is only possible to get there by boat. All of the people in the area live in beautiful houses on rafts, among which one can even see a school, the website wrote.

Cua Van is home to more than 170 households who depend mainly on fishing for their livelihoods. In 2017, the village made it into the list of the top 30 travel destinations around the globe, as voted on by readers of Travel + Leisure magazine of the United States.

In 2015, it had been named among the world’s most charming little town by online US newspaper Huffington Post.

Topping the list of the 17 fairy-tale places by Bright Side is Kaliningrad fishing village of Russia, which is described as an ethnographic, trading, and craft centre, whilst being among the pearl of Kaliningrad city.

This was followed by San Gimignano of Italy and Gásadalur of Denmark. Others among the Top 5 include Reine of Norway and Bibury of Britain.

The seventh position went to Cua Van fishing village, behind Giethoorn of the Netherlands. Pariangan of Indonesia, Longji of China, and Uchisar of Turkey made up the Top 10 list.

The website collected a total of 17 stunning and exceptional villages which have in common clean air, a small population density, and a cozy atmosphere.
