Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Director General Phan Thi Minh Giang congratulated Ms. Alessandra Tognonato on her new position, expressing confidence that with her extensive experience, the new Consul General will make effective and practical contributions to the Vietnam – Italy Strategic Partnership, especially in consular cooperation.
The Deputy Director General affirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Consular Department and Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs) along with other Vietnamese authorities will always support the Consulate General and facilitate the new Consul General in successfully completing her term in Vietnam.
Deputy Director General Phan Thi Minh Giang expressed a desire for both sides to continue close cooperation, facilitating exchanges and travel between the two countries, and enhancing collaboration in traditional fields and new areas such as green transition, digital transformation, science and technology, labour, and employment.
For her part, Ms. Alessandra Tognonato thanked Deputy Director General Phan Thi Minh Giang for the meeting and the consular acceptance, expressing her delight at the positive developments in bilateral relations, particularly in economic and cultural fields.
The new Italian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City emphasised that during her term, she will continue to promote bilateral cooperation in priority areas such as investment cooperation, culture, education, and especially consular cooperation amid increasing people-to-people exchanges and travel between the two countries.
