Vietnam and Chile officially established diplomatic relations on March 25, 1971.

Despite being tens of thousands of kilometers apart, Vietnam and Chile have always been close and attached. Vietnam appreciates and remembers the affection and support the Chilean people gave it during the war and the period of national construction and development.

Good traditional friendship is a solid foundation for the strong development of solidarity, friendship, and trustworthy cooperation between Vietnam and Chile over the past half-century, especially since the two countries established a Comprehensive Partnership in 2007.

Trade between the two countries continues to develop positively. Chile is one of Vietnam's four largest trade partners in Latin America (after Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina).

Cooperation agreements and arrangements in many fields have been effectively implemented, deepening and diversifying the bilateral relationship.

The two sides continue to coordinate and support each other closely at international organizations and multilateral forums, demonstrating solidarity and friendship between the people of the two countries.
