Born in 1973 in Hai Hau, Nam Dinh, since being a student, Nguyen Thi Huong Lien has cherished the dream of turning the traditional pot of shampoo leaves into an industrial product to help women still enjoy the gentle, relaxing feeling, rich in the scent of classic essential oils without having to look for different types of leaves. Just like that, her childhood desire led her to Hanoi University of Pharmacy. After graduating with a Master's in Pharmaceutics from Hanoi University of Pharmacy, she worked as a researcher for a pharmaceutical company.
However, her heart disease became worse after giving birth in 1994, causing a change in her career. At that time, doctors could not solve her health problems. Realizing some side effects of hospitals' widespread drug use, she learned more about Oriental Medicine, Cosmetics, and Administration, created her herbal treatment, and researched the medicinal uses of herbs used in traditional medicine.

Creating and bringing Vietnamese herbal products to the world
In 2000, she and her husband, pharmacist Nguyen Huu Thang, founded Sao Thai Duong to realize the dream of researching, developing, and innovating products from Vietnamese herbs by using technology, research, production, and quality monitoring methods according to international standards of WHO, U.K., E.U., and the U.S., so that "made in Vietnam" products are widely used domestically and internationally, towards a world of green health and sustainable development. "Sao Thai Duong" is a lucky star in astrology, with the wish "Sao Thai Duong - Bringing happiness to every home" - Ms. Lien shared. That is also the guiding principle in the company's business philosophy. Therefore, the company collaborates with farmers to grow and purchase clean, high-standard medicinal herbs through the project "Exploiting natural medicinal herbs in combination with protecting the forest, preserving genetic resources, cultivating and processing medicinal herbs" in many northwest regions. Sao Thai Duong has also invested in building three factories in Ha Nam equipped with production lines of modern technology that meet GMP-WHO, FDA, and Halal standards.

With passion and constant efforts in scientific research, Ms. Lien and her colleagues have launched 14 useful inventions and solutions combining natural herbs with modern technologies and techniques from around the world, making Sao Thai Duong a pioneering Vietnamese pharmaceutical and cosmetic enterprise exporting herbal products to demanding markets such as the U.S., the E.U., and the U.K. More than 150 science and technology products from Vietnamese herbs of Sao Thai Duong are available at more than 80,000 points of sale in Vietnam, the U.K., the U.S., China, and Europe... During the difficult times of the 2020-2023 pandemic, she organized many research groups, together with Vietnam's famous scientists and Sao Thai Duong, to conduct research and successfully applied and produced two RNA Covid-19 test kits using two different techniques, RT-PCR and RT-LAMP, licensed for circulation in Vietnam and the E.U.; Successfully researched and developed Vietnam's first and only herbal medicine to date for treating Covid-19, flu, and other respiratory viral diseases. The research has been reported by more than 700 of the world's leading prestigious newspapers and scientific magazines.
In particular, on February 26-28, 2024, a Vietnamese drug study to treat respiratory viral diseases was selected to report at the International Conference on Pharma R&D Pharmaceutical Research for the first time. Sao Thai Duong is the representative unit presenting SUNKOVIR drug research achievements. This is the most important yearly conference on pharmaceutical research, with more than 35 participating countries, organized by the American Scientific Association. In August 2023, she was invited by the WHO as a traditional medicine expert to contribute to the world's traditional medicine development strategy for 2025- 2034 and to deliver a joint statement at the closing session at the first Traditional Medicine Summit co-organized by WHO and the Indian Government within the framework of the G20 conference in India...
Her and Sao Thai Duong's success has contributed significantly to the Vietnamese pharmaceutical industry, recognized by world organizations. She is a Vietnamese inventor selected by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to write inspirational articles on WIPO's official website. Sao Thai Duong is honored to welcome WTO General Director Ngozi Okonjo Iweala to visit the headquarters on her first working visit to Vietnam in May 2023.

Sao Thai Duong with the mission of "Bringing happiness to every home"
It can be said that Sao Thai Duong has been leading the trend of choosing green investment, creating thousands of jobs and livelihoods for farmers in remote areas, helping to increase income due to shifting cultivation of medicinal herbs and essential oils, promoting green lifestyle, environmental protection, and sustainable development. Along with launching new products, Sao Thai Duong actively promotes the brand, contributes to boosting revenue, and extracts profits by organizing humanitarian activities to spread love to the poor, the unhappiness, the illness, and reducing damage caused by natural disasters and floods. Stemming from the love of books and understanding the value of "giving forever", she and Sao Thai Duong have carried out many meaningful charity programs: Classroom Bookcase Program, calling on businessmen and intellectuals to donate hundreds of thousands of selected books to rural children, students in Nam Dinh and other localities such as Ha Nam, Hai Duong, and Nghe An... She is also an active member of the Vietnam Children's Fund, connecting business people, intellectuals, and doctors to participate in school-building programs for mountainous children, Selling goods at culinary events to raise charity funds for poor children overcoming hardships and families in difficulty, awarding scholarships to students of the University of Pharmacy; Joining hands to overcome storm No.10 in Ha Tinh; During the Covid-19 pandemic, Sao Thai Duong donated a lot of test kits, products and medical supplies worth over 150 billion VND to the Vietnamese health sector, domestic and international communities... Sponsoring a free medical examination, medicine, and artificial lens replacement surgery program for policy beneficiaries, people in challenging circumstances in Nghia Hung, Nam Dinh, and poor older adults in rural and mountainous areas.
