The event “Vietnam-China Community in Khon Kaen, Thailand Celebrates 75 Years of Vietnam-China Diplomatic Relations” was solemnly organized by the Consulate General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen on December 20, 2025.

The event was attended by Consul General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen Dinh Hoang Linh; Ms. Liu Hongmei, Consul General of China; Mr. Khajornkiat Rakphanitmanee, Governor of Khon Kaen Province, and nearly 200 delegates who are members of the Vietnamese and Chinese expatriate associations in the area.

Speaking about the event, the Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh highlighted the historical significance of the People's Republic of China being the first country in the world to officially establish diplomatic relations with the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on January 18, 1950. He emphasized that this marked a significant historical milestone, opening a new chapter and deepening the long-standing traditional friendship between the two Parties, States, and peoples.

The year 2025 marks another milestone in the history of relations between the two countries, celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations and being the Year of Vietnam-China Humanistic Exchange.

Reviewing the positive cooperation results in various fields such as politics, diplomacy, economy-trade, culture, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries in recent times, Consul General Linh affirmed that the Consulate General of Vietnam will continue to closely coordinate with the Consulate General of China, along with the Vietnamese and Chinese communities in the area, to contribute to deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and building a Vietnam-China Community with a shared future of strategic significance, for the prosperous development of both countries.

Speaking at the event, Chinese Consul General Liu Hongmei reflected on the revolutionary years of standing shoulder to shoulder, sharing hardships and joys, the friendship nurtured by past leaders like President Hồ Chí Minh and Chairman Mao Zedong, to the joint construction of a China-Vietnam Community with a shared future of strategic significance in today's era; and affirmed the depth and stature of the bilateral relationship.

Chinese Consul General Liu Hongmei emphasized: “China always prioritizes its relationship with Vietnam in its neighboring diplomacy, while Vietnam also places the highest importance on its relationship with China in its foreign policy. This consensus is the fundamental basis for promoting increasingly extensive cooperation.

We need to persist in the strategic guidance of high-level leaders, fully utilize cooperation mechanisms in all fields, and continuously strengthen political trust, so that the spirit of ‘close neighbors, dear friends, comrades with shared goals, partners in development’ is passed down from generation to generation.”

Congratulating the Vietnamese and Chinese Consulates General and the community on organizing the 75th anniversary of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations, Governor of Khon Kaen Province Khajornkiat Rakphanitmanee assessed that the solidarity and strength of the Vietnamese, Chinese, and Thai communities will positively contribute to fostering better cooperation among Thailand, Vietnam, and China.

The year 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of Thailand-China diplomatic relations. The year 2026 will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Thailand-Vietnam diplomatic relations. The Khon Kaen provincial government will actively coordinate with the Vietnamese Consulate General to organize meaningful activities to celebrate these significant events.

Also at the event, the Vietnamese Consulate General screened the film “75 Years of Vietnam-China Relations”, highlighting important milestones in the history of bilateral relations. This is one of the activities demonstrating the positive cooperative efforts between the two Consulates General and the Vietnam-China community in the area.

Updated Information on Vietnam-China Investment and Trade Cooperation:

In terms of investment, China has now risen to become the third-largest foreign investor in Vietnam, with total registered capital exceeding 32 billion USD. Additionally, people-to-people exchanges, tourism, and cultural cooperation between the two countries are extremely vibrant.

Regarding trade, in 2024, the total bilateral trade turnover exceeded 205 billion USD. By the end of October 2025, the figure had surpassed 208 billion USD, setting a new record, making Vietnam China's largest trading partner in Southeast Asia and fourth globally.
