An adaptive Tet in the context of COVID-19

Let’s use the Tet holiday to relax and encourage one another, knowing that the pandemic will be ended soon and we will all be safe. |
In 2021, Viet Nam has suffered the 4th wave of the COVID-19 pandemic caused by the Delta variant.
A new year of 2022 is coming, and it brings along concerns over imminent holiday celebrations in light of the Omicron variant.
In the last ten days, almost 16,000 new cases were detected on average each day.
According to the latest statistics from the Portal of the Ministry of Health on the COVID-19 pandemic, on December 30, Viet Nam recorded 17,000 new cases, of which, many localities continued to record hundreds to thousands of infections.
The pandemic situation has been even more complicated in Ha Noi. From December 24 to 30, the city reported nearly 2,000 new cases on average each day.
Up to now, more than 1.7 million people have been infected with COVID-19 in Viet Nam with over 32,000 deaths. The country is seeing an average of more than 230 daily deaths over the past week.
According to the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, the number of deaths in people over 65 years old and with underlying diseases accounted for 47.67%; 36.58% are people from 50-56 years old; 18-49 is 15.34%; group from 0 to 17 years old is 0.42%. Thus, the total number of deaths from 50 years old and above accounts for 84%.
The number of asymptomatic infections in Viet Nam is quite high, accounting for more than 85%. If there are numerous asymptomatic infected people in the community, daily interaction will swiftly spread the disease, putting people with weak immune systems at risk.
However, as Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said in a recent meeting, we have no choice but to adapt safely, flexibly, effectively control the epidemic, and open the economy, restoration and socio-economic development.
And in the formula of disease prevention, there is always an element of "raising people's awareness".
For economic recovery, it is necessary to adapt and open up. To open the door, the Party, State and Government have made every effort to prepare the country with an immune system sufficient to cope with the still raging pandemic, which is the whole population vaccination campaign.
Up to 2pm on December 30, the whole country had injected more than 149.3 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine, of which 99% of the population over 18 years old were covered with 1 dose, the number of people who had received 2 full doses reached the rate of 89.2%.
In particular, most provinces have a coverage rate of one dose of 88% or more, while the coverage rate of full dose is 62.5% or more.
Although the vaccination rate is quite high, in the context that Viet Nam has recorded the first case of the Omicron variant of coronavirus, the risk of a pandemic spreading rapidly in the Tet holiday is completely grounded.
At this time, the best weapon to protect the body from the pandemic is the consciousness of each person, each family.
Obviously, during the past two years, many people's jobs, habits, and thoughts have changed to adapt to times of social distancing, or prevent the spread of COVID-19, such as less gatherings, staying home more often and keeping their distance from others.
Although knowing that a new spring, fresh hope, meeting, asking each other, congratulating each other on good luck, peace, or spring trip is part of the nation's cultural beauty, the country's recovery will be affected if people's health is not guaranteed.
People often ring in the new year with meetings, parties, congratulations, travels, etc. which are considered as the cultural value of the nation. However, when the people are not healthy, the country's recovery will be affected.
Therefore, to protect your health, your family's health, and the health of the entire society, it is necessary to keep the virus in mind. If you go out for pagodas, or enjoy the spring atmosphere during the Tet holiday, remember to stick to 5K with masks, keeping distance, and no gatherings.
This New Year, let's take a moment to remember those who have died because of the pandemic, to honor those who have sacrificed themselves to fight against the pandemic during the past two years such as doctors, nurses, medical staff, and military personnel.
The traditional Tet holiday is a chance for us to celebrate and wish each other good things. We believe that the pandemic will end soon and we will be all safe and sound.
