Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh delivered the opening speech at the Festival, in Nanning City, Guangxi, China.

Chen Gang, Secretary of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Party Committee, leaders of the Autonomous Region Authority, representatives of diplomatic missions and business associations from member countries of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) attended the event.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh said that China and ASEAN have been each other's two largest trade partners for many years, and are also important members within the framework of the RCEP Agreement.

The two sides' increased trade cooperation, including agricultural trade, within the framework of the RCEP Agreement has contributed to promoting trade and investment expansion, developing supply chains in the region with 2.3 billion consumers and contributing to global economic growth.

According to Ambassador Binh, Guangxi is the gateway connecting trade between China and RCEP member countries, including ASEAN countries and Vietnam. In addition, Guangxi is known as the "fruit capital of China", and is also the largest land border gate for fruit imports in the country of 1.4 billion people.

RCEP countries also have many types of unique, high-quality temperate, subtropical and tropical fruits, meeting the needs of Chinese consumers.

In particular, through the Guangxi gateway, many agricultural products from ASEAN countries such as durian, mangosteen, dragon fruit, mango, lychee, jackfruit, coffee, etc. have built their image and brand, and have been welcomed, favoured and highly appreciated by Chinese consumers.

Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh expressed his hope that, through this activity, Guangxi will further promote its strategic position as a centre connecting agricultural trade between China and RCEP countries, creating opportunities for key fruit products of Vietnam in particular and ASEAN in general to participate in promoting and introducing delicious, clean and safe fruit products to Chinese consumers.
