Returning to your post after attending the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, how do you carry the spirit and determination to implement the Congress's Resolution in your diplomatic work?
The 14th National Congress of the Party is a particularly significant political event, marking a new milestone for the country's development in the upcoming period. Attending the Congress in person, I and other ambassadors deeply felt the spirit of innovation, a strong desire for development, national self-reliance, and the determination to build a rapidly growing, sustainable Vietnam with an increasingly prominent international standing.
Returning to the UAE, I bring with me the enthusiasm, confidence, and a high sense of responsibility to concretize the 14th Congress's Resolution into our diplomatic efforts here. For the first time, the Party Congress documents have identified foreign affairs as a "key, regular" sector. This is both an honor and a significant responsibility for the entire foreign affairs and diplomatic sector.
Based on this, the Embassy will closely coordinate with domestic ministries, sectors, localities, and UAE partners to promote the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and the UAE in a deeper, more substantive, and effective manner, especially in the fields of economy, trade, investment, green transition, renewable energy, innovation, and logistics – areas aligned with the development orientations of both countries.
The overarching spirit I carry from the 14th Congress is proactive, creative, decisive action, prioritizing national interests above all, contributing practically to the successful implementation of the Congress's Resolution from each specific post like the UAE.
How do you assess the role of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad in contributing to building the image of Vietnam as a friend, a reliable partner, and a responsible member of the international community? Could you relate this to the efforts of the Embassy in promoting relations with the UAE – Vietnam's first comprehensive partner in the Middle East?
In the context of rapidly changing and complex global and regional situations, the role of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad is increasingly important in contributing to building and spreading the image of a peaceful, stable, innovative Vietnam, as a friend, a reliable partner, and a responsible member of the international community.
By consistently implementing the foreign policy of the Party and State, the representative agencies have proactively promoted political relations, economic cooperation, cultural diplomacy, and external information work, thereby enhancing Vietnam's prestige and position on the international stage.
The establishment of a Comprehensive Partnership between the two countries reflects a high level of political trust and the strategic vision of the leaders of both nations. In this spirit, the Vietnamese Embassy in the UAE clearly identifies its bridging role, actively implementing high-level agreements, promoting political, economic, trade, and investment cooperation, while enhancing cultural, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, thereby contributing to the substantive, effective, and sustainable development of Vietnam-UAE relations; simultaneously promoting the image of a dynamic, reliable Vietnam, as an attractive partner and destination amidst rapidly changing regional and global contexts.
Economy and trade are among the priority areas in Vietnam-UAE relations. The two countries signed the Vietnam-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement in October 2024. According to you, what should both sides do to effectively leverage this Agreement for the development of each country?
Economy and trade are crucial pillars in Vietnam-UAE relations. The signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in October 2024 is a strategically significant step, creating a favorable legal framework to promote bilateral cooperation in the new development phase.
For the Agreement to be effectively implemented, first and foremost, both sides need to quickly complete the implementation mechanisms, ensuring close coordination between ministries, sectors, localities, and the business community. Enhancing information exchange and fully disseminating the Agreement's content to businesses, especially small and medium enterprises, is of great importance.
Additionally, both countries need to focus on removing technical barriers, facilitating trade and investment, and leveraging the complementary strengths of their economies. Vietnam has strengths in production, agriculture, processing, and human resources; while the UAE has advantages in finance, logistics, and as a transshipment and market connection hub for the Middle East, Africa, and globally.
As for the Embassy, we will continue to play an active bridging role, supporting business connections, and promoting specific cooperation projects, thereby contributing to making the Vietnam-UAE CEPA a crucial driver for growth and sustainable development in each country.
Celebrating the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, could you share your feelings as well as the small joys of the Embassy staff in the early days of the new year, despite the geographical distance, but with hearts always directed towards the homeland?
Celebrating the Lunar New Year Binh Ngo 2026 in the UAE, although geographically distant from the homeland, the hearts of every staff member at our Embassy are always directed towards the country. Celebrating the New Year far from home further strengthens the camaraderie and warmth among colleagues.
In the early days of the new year, our colleagues together preserve the beautiful traditions of the Lunar New Year, decorate the Embassy's New Year space, make traditional banh chung, share simple joys, encourage each other to overcome homesickness; wishing each other a year of peace, happiness, and success, sharing a common belief in the country's future development.
