Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Brazil and concurrently to Guyana, Bui Van Nghi, highlighted Vietnam's diplomatic and international integration achievements over the past year, as well as developments in Vietnam's foreign relations in Latin America, such as upgrading relations with Brazil to a strategic partnership and celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations with Guyana.
Ambassador Bui Van Nghi emphasized the standout feature in Vietnam-Brazil relations is economic diplomacy, with trade turnover reaching nearly USD 8 billion, including a remarkable 36.7% growth in seafood exports, laying a solid foundation for the USD 15 billion target by 2030.

Alongside Brazil's recognition of Vietnam as a market economy since March 2025, both sides have actively initiated negotiations on a trade agreement with the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) and enhanced cooperation in high-tech, renewable energy, and food security sectors.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Guyana diplomatic relations, Ambassador Bui Van Nghi stressed this milestone as crucial for both countries to continue strengthening political trust, expanding cooperation in potential fields, and contributing positively to peace, cooperation, and sustainable development in the region and globally.

Brazilian Deputy Foreign Minister Kleebank emphasized that upgrading bilateral relations to a strategic partnership in 2024 was a historic milestone, reinforced by high-level visits and the adoption of the 2025-2030 Action Plan, reflecting deep political trust and dialogue between the two countries.
Ms. Kleebank also noted the strong growth in bilateral trade in agriculture, food, and seafood sectors, opening up potential cooperation in food security, bioenergy, energy transition, aviation, and high technology.
In the field of science and technology, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on innovation in 2025 between the two countries is seen as a significant step forward, laying the foundation for advanced research and institutional development.

During the 50th anniversary celebration of Vietnam-Guyana diplomatic relations, Guyana's Ambassador to Brazil Compton Bourne expressed a desire to further strengthen relations with Vietnam, particularly in energy, sustainable forestry, trade, industrial production, technical cooperation, and eco-tourism; he also called on Vietnam to participate in the Global Biodiversity Alliance Initiative initiated by Guyana.
