Steadfastly overcoming the pandemic
Vietnamese women's optimistic spirit and qualities were also reflected throughout the sharing of female diplomats at the recently-held seminar "Women in Diplomacy - Connecting Hands - Preventing and Adapting to the Pandemic".
From places that used to be the epicenter of the Covid-19 pandemic, Vietnamese Ambassador to Brazil Nguyen Thi Kim Hoa and Ms. Hoang Thanh Nga, Counselor, Viet Nam's Embassy in the US shared their personal experiences to complete the work, maintain the optimistic spirit despite the rapidly increasing number of local infections.
Meanwhile, Ms. Lam Thi Thanh Phuong, Minister-Counselor, Embassy of Viet Nam in Japan discussed the psychological problems that diplomats often encountered in the limited space when many countries implemented blockade and social distancing. At that time, women diplomats had to do well in foreign affairs tasks and played the role of sympathizer in the representative mission to listen, understand and encourage colleagues' spirit.
Recalling the time of fighting the Covid-19 in a foreign land, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Xuan (Viet Nam's Embassy in India) and Ms. Nguyen Thi Ut Be (Viet Nam's Embassy in the UK) felt touched by the "energy" that was "supplied" from the care and attention of colleagues, diplomatic spouses and especially a great source of spiritual encouragement from the homeland. That strength, plus the resilient will and strong vitality of Vietnamese women, helped them feel secure and confident to fight the diseases, even in moments of life and death...
Ms. Pham Tran Thanh Thao, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City, told the story of officers of her Department during the pandemic period and their spirit of spreading the excitement to adapt to the new situation when the pandemic is under control.
Listening to the stories and sharing of female officers, Mrs. Vu Thi Bich Ngoc, spouse of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, expressed her emotion and admiration for the will and optimism of the officers in the diplomatic service, especially their courage and vital spirit in epidemic centers.
