Welcome ceremony held for Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Luxembourg

WVR/VNA - After more than 12 hours of flight, at 7:00 am on December 9 (local time), the special charter flight carrying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived at Findel International Airport, starting an official visit to Grand Duchy of Luxembourg at the invitation of Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel.

Prime Minister Chinh and the delegation were welcomed at the airport by Luxembourg Ambassador to Vietnam Patrich Hammer, Chief of Protocol of the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs Olivier Baldauff, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Luxembourg Nguyen Van Thao, among others.

On December 9 morning (local time), Prime Minister of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel hosted an official welcome ceremony for his visiting Vietnamese counterpart Pham Minh Chinh in the capital city of Luxembourg.

After the ceremony, the two Prime Ministers held talks.

This is the first official visit to Luxembourg by Prime Minister Chinh at a time when the bilateral relations are flourishing after nearly five decades of diplomatic ties, especially in investment and development.

Having invested 2.6 billion USD in Vietnam, Luxembourg is the third largest EU investor in Vietnam and also one of the EU countries that have ratified the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) early. It views Vietnam as one of the priority partners in development assistance, with total aid reaching 129 million EUR (136.4 million USD).

Prime Minister Chinh's trip is expected to increase political trust, strongly promote the investment pillar, and expand cooperation in potential fields to further consolidate and develop the collaboration between the two countries in time to come, effectively contributing to the sustainable development and response to global challenges for the practical benefit of the two countries' people as well as for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the two continents and in the world.
