Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh arrives in Vientiane, beginning official visit to Laos

WVR - At 9:30 AM on December 2, the aircraft carrying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation arrived at Wattay International Airport, Vientiane, marking the start of an official visit to Laos to attend the high-level meeting between the two Parties and co-chair the 48th session of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee.

Welcoming Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation at the airport were Minister and Head of the Prime Minister's Office Bouakhong Nammavong; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, leaders of Vientiane, Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh; Chief of the Laos-Vietnam Cooperation Committee Viengsan Chantha; and leaders of departments under the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the Vietnamese side were Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong; Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam; representatives from Vietnamese missions in Laos, Embassy staff, and the Vietnamese community in Laos.

During the visit, in addition to attending the high-level meeting between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the Prime Minister will co-chair the 48th session of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee with the Lao Prime Minister. He will also engage in bilateral activities with Laos, such as meeting with senior Lao leaders and co-chairing the Vietnam-Laos Economic Forum.

At the 48th session of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee, the government delegations of both countries will review and assess the implementation of agreements in the Vietnam-Laos Cooperation Plan for 2021-2025 and 2025. They will also discuss and agree on cooperation directions and tasks for 2026-2030 and 2026, aiming to concretize the conclusions of the meeting between the two Politburos.

The Prime Minister's visit to Laos takes place in the context of strengthened political relations and strategic trust between Vietnam and Laos, affirming the core role and overall orientation in the bilateral relationship.

After more than 60 years of diplomatic relations, both sides have agreed to elevate their relationship to a new strategic level, inheriting and promoting the tradition of special solidarity between the two countries.

Both sides are enhancing existing cooperation mechanisms, especially through meetings and exchanges between the two General Secretaries and senior leaders of the two Parties and States. They are also reviewing and adjusting cooperation mechanisms to suit the realities of both sides, focusing on strategic issues, policies related to security, and development.

The two sides have successfully coordinated numerous important diplomatic activities between the senior leaders of the two Parties and States.

Senior leaders of the two Parties and countries have exchanged comprehensive and substantive discussions on core issues, effectively resolving many key cooperation projects, creating momentum to promote strong development cooperation and deepen the bond between the two Parties and countries.

Defense, security, and foreign cooperation continue to develop deeply and effectively, serving as pillars in the Vietnam-Laos relationship.

Economic, cultural, educational, and scientific-technical cooperation has seen positive changes. Cooperation among committees, ministries, sectors, parliamentary committees, fronts, mass organizations, and localities of the two countries continues to be strengthened and becomes more substantive...

The Prime Minister's visit to Laos aims to promptly implement high-level agreements between the two Parties, contributing to strengthening relations with Laos, and demonstrating the determination of the two governments to realize the Agreement between the two Politburos, elevating the bilateral relationship to a "strategic partnership".
