Vietnamese, foreign children draw peaceful Ha Noi

An international painting contest themed “I love Ha Noi – A Peaceful City” was held in Ha Noi on May 27 in response to International Children’s Day (June 1).

The contest attracted the participation of nearly 100 children, aged 5-15, from Ha Noi and several countries like India, Russia, Sri Lanka and the Philippines who are living in the Vietnamese capital city.

The event was a chance to encourage the creativeness of children and strengthen friendship and solidarity between Vietnamese and foreign children.

In her opening remarks, Tran Thi Phuong, Vice President of the Ha Noi Union of Friendship Organisations, said that peace is a common aspiration of mankind.

She expressed her hope that children bring into full play their capacity and understanding to draw paintings highlighting the love for peace, the nation, the nature and Hanoi – the city of peace.

Within the framework of the contest, 500 photos taken by photographers from 20 nations were exhibited.

Director of the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Ha Noi Natalia Shafinskya said that through this contest and photos, the organising board wants to introduce uniqueness and similarities of children from different nations as well as their vulnerability, and emphasises the responsibility of people to protect the future generations.
