Vietnamese delegation attends international communist, workers’ parties meeting in Cuba
WVR - From August 7-12, the 24th International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties (IMCWP) and the first International Seminar themed "Fidel: Legacy and Future" took place in Havana, Republic of Cuba.

The delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam, led by Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, and Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Defence, Security, and Foreign Affairs Vu Hai Ha attended these significant events.
*The 24th International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties (IMCWP) took place from August 7-9 in Havana, hosted by the Communist Party of Cuba with the theme: “Protecting and Honouring the Legacy of the Cuban Revolution on the 100th Anniversary of Fidel's Birth; Deepening Solidarity with Socialist Cuba; Strengthening Joint Actions; Uniting Forces for Peace and Against Imperialist Aggression”; attended by nearly 200 international delegates from 48 communist and workers' parties worldwide.
At the Meeting, the head of the Vietnamese delegation delivered a speech emphasiding that the Cuban Revolution is a shining symbol of the struggle for national independence, sovereignty, and social justice worldwide; the thoughts and example of Fidel, along with Ho Chi Minh's ideology, are two major symbols of the international communist and workers' movement.

Vu Hai Ha affirmed Vietnam's solidarity in the face of the significant challenges Cuba is encountering; he confirmed that the Party, State, and People of Vietnam always follow, share, and strongly support the just cause of the Cuban people; he called for solidarity and struggle to protect peace and end the blockade and embargo measures against Cuba, which are contrary to international law and the United Nations Charter.
On this occasion, the delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam also shared information about the outcomes of the 14th National Party Congress (2026), the country's development path and orientation in the new phase; affirming Vietnam's steadfast goal of national independence linked with socialism, adhering to Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's ideology.

*The first International Seminar “Fidel: Legacy and Future” in Havana is part of the activities commemorating the 100th birth anniversary of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz. The event was attended by over 1,000 international delegates from 63 countries. Within the framework of the Seminar, Cuba organized the launch of the book series Collection of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz (15,000 pages) printed and presented by Vietnam.
Speaking at the Seminar's Opening Session, the head of the Vietnamese delegation affirmed the three epochal values embodied in Fidel Castro: national independence, sovereignty, and social justice, emphasizing the international spirit in the famous quote by Leader Fidel Castro Ruz: “A true revolution cannot be non-international.”
The head of the delegation reaffirmed Vietnam's foreign policy of independence and self-reliance and committed to “accompanying, cooperating, and developing” with Cuba. On this occasion, Vietnam expressed deep gratitude on the 60th anniversary of Leader Fidel's declaration “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to shed its blood” (January 2, 1966 - January 2, 2026).

Speaking at the Forum “Fidel and Parliamentary Diplomacy” also within the Seminar framework, Vu Hai Ha emphasised the turbulent global context and the enduring value of Fidel's legacy: steadfast independence, sovereignty, international solidarity, and the aspiration for justice; he affirmed the similarity between Ho Chi Minh's and Fidel's thoughts on the role of parliament in protecting national will and serving the interests of the People; he called for promoting specific cooperation with Cuba in healthcare, education, agriculture, digital transformation, and sustainable development.

*Within the framework of the working visit, the head of the Vietnamese delegation conveyed greetings from Vietnam's key leaders to the leaders of the Cuban Party and State during meetings with Cuban National Assembly President Esteban Lazo and Standing Member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Cuba Roberto Morales.
The delegation also met and exchanged with Noemi Rabaza, First Vice President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), about promoting people-to-people diplomacy activities between the two sides.
During the Meeting and Seminar, the head of the Vietnamese delegation also held meetings with the heads of delegations from IMCWP member parties, including Laos, Japan, the UK, Portugal, Mexico, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela, to discuss directions and measures to strengthen contact and cooperation with the parties, contributing to promoting relations between the two States, Parliaments, and peoples of the two countries.
