Speaking at the event, Ambassador Do Hung Viet emphasized the importance of these two strategically significant events for Vietnam's development in the new phase. The 14th Party Congress outlined directions and solutions to realize the "two centenary goals," identifying three strategic breakthroughs in institutional reform, high-quality human resources linked with science, technology, innovation, and modern, synchronized infrastructure.
Regarding foreign policy, Ambassador Do Hung Viet affirmed that the 14th Congress consistently reiterated the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation, and development; diversifying and multilateralizing foreign relations; proactively and actively integrating into the international community comprehensively and deeply.
The Head of the Vietnamese Delegation highlighted that people's diplomacy increasingly asserts itself as a crucial pillar of Vietnam's diplomacy, creating a favorable foundation for cooperative relations between Vietnam and other countries, including the United States.
Regarding the first session of the 16th National Assembly, Ambassador Do Hung Viet was pleased to announce that the session had comprehensively completed the consolidation of the State leadership apparatus and institutional framework for the new term; elected key leadership positions of the State, National Assembly, Government, and judicial bodies; and reviewed and approved numerous important legal frameworks and medium-term development plans for the 2026 - 2030 period.
In an atmosphere of sincere, open, and constructive exchange, many American friends congratulated the success of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the first session of the 16th National Assembly, expressing deep interest in Vietnam's development directions and breakthroughs in the new phase.

Some delegates expressed a desire to learn more about Vietnam's key policies, including the transition of the growth model, labor policies, social housing, efforts to address the aftermath of Agent Orange/dioxin, solutions to cope with the impact of Middle East conflicts and rising oil prices, as well as Vietnam's stance on the Palestine issue…
On this occasion, Ambassador Do Hung Viet expressed sincere gratitude for the interest, support, and goodwill that American friends have extended to Vietnam over the years, as well as the congratulatory messages sent to Vietnam's new leadership.
The Ambassador affirmed that this is a vivid testament to the effectiveness of people's diplomacy and the increasingly developing friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and international friends, including American friends; expressing a desire to continue receiving the companionship, interest, and cooperation of American friends in Vietnam's new development journey, for peace, stability, cooperation, and development.
