A delegation from the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) is attending the International Army Games 2018 (Armygames - 2018), which is being held in Russia from July 27 to August 1.

On July 28, Chief of the General Staff of the VPA and Deputy Defence Minister Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, participated in the event’s opening ceremony.

This is the first time the VPA has joined the games. Its presence is to realise agreements signed during the visits to Vietnam and Russia by the two Defence Ministers in January and April.

This year’s event, the fourth of its kind, saw the participation of 181 teams from 32 nations. It aims to intensify friendship between participating countries in general and understanding between their armies in particular.
