During the meeting, Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh emphasized that this year's press meeting takes place in the context of Vietnam successfully organizing the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam in January 2026 and the conclusion of China's Two Sessions, which outlined important development policies for the implementation of the 15th Five-Year Plan.
Introducing Vietnam's development achievements in 2025, Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh highlighted key milestones such as an 8.02% GDP growth, an economy exceeding 514 billion USD, and trade turnover surpassing 930 billion USD.
Strategic breakthroughs in institutional reform, vigorous administrative reform, merging provincial administrative units, and implementing a two-tier local government model were executed.
Foreign affairs were actively pursued with 75 diplomatic activities by key leaders and the expansion of the partnership network to 42 countries at the comprehensive partnership level and above. Notably, Vietnam established comprehensive strategic partnerships with all five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council.
Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh affirmed that the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam marks a historic milestone, setting long-term directions for the country and representing a new step in theoretical and practical summarization on Vietnam's development path.
The Congress set strategic goals, aiming for Vietnam to become a developing country with modern industry and upper-middle income by 2030, and a developed, high-income country by 2045. In foreign policy, Vietnam remains steadfast in its independent, self-reliant, multilateral, and diversified approach, proactively and actively integrating internationally, emphasizing the addition of "resilience" to enhance adaptability and development in the new context.

Regarding bilateral relations, the Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam always considers the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China a strategic choice and top priority in its foreign policy, appreciating the positive and meaningful results achieved by both sides in the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the Vietnam-China Humanistic Exchange Year 2025.
He noted that economic and trade cooperation, with a total turnover of approximately 296 billion USD in 2025, continues to be a highlight. Cooperation in science and technology, education, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges has been promoted, notably through activities within the framework of the "Red Journey: Youth Study and Research" initiated by the highest leaders of both parties, leaving a profound impact on the young generations of Vietnam and China, contributing to a solid social foundation for bilateral relations.
Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh acknowledged the important role of Vietnamese and Chinese media agencies in enhancing understanding and promoting friendly relations between the two countries; he expressed gratitude for the active cooperation of media agencies in timely and objectively reporting on the situation in each country as well as significant achievements in bilateral relations.

The Ambassador expressed his hope that media agencies from both countries will continue to accompany and spread positive messages about comprehensive cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, further solidifying the strong social foundation for Vietnam-China relations in the new phase.
