At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh evaluated that the bilateral relationship has made significant progress on multiple areas, affirmed that Vietnam always valued the promotion of relationship with Belgium, Vietnam’s important partner in Europe and EU.
The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that both countries continue to exchange delegations and meetings on all levels, cooperate to implement agreements signed by leaders of two countries since Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s visit to the Kingdom of Belgium on October 2018.
Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh also stated that Vietnam has actively prepared for the EU – Vietnam Free Trade Agrements (EVFTA) and hoped that Belgium continued to support the early signing and ratification of this important agreement, therefore materializing benefits that EVFTA could bring to relevant parties, creating favorable conditions for promoting economic, trade relations and Vietnam – Belgium investments.

According to Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, the fact that Belgium appointed a seasoned diplomat to become the Ambassador in Vietnam has demonstrated that the importance of developing a relationship with Vietnam to the Belgian government. Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh also expressed his belief that the Ambassador would be successful with his mission, contributing to the promotion of the bilateral relations with new and comprehensive developments.
For his part, Belgium Ambassador in Vietnam Paul Jansen affirmed his determination in promoting and deepening the bilateral relationship between two countries. The Ambassador also expressed his hope that the Free Trade Agreements between Vietnam and the European Union would soon be signed and ratified, creating new opportunities for cooperation between local businesses and the two regions.
Both sides also highly valued bilateral, effective cooperation on multilateral and international forums such as the United Nations, International Organisation of the Francophonie, ASEM and ASEAN, specifically bilateral supports during elections on important agencies of the United Nations recently. They also expressed belief that with the solid foundations on cooperations between two countries on multilateral mechanisms, Vietnam and Belgium would continue to actively contribute to the peace, prosperity and stability regionally and globally.
